Now, the event marked the second tornado that was confirmed in the state that day.

An earlier tornado, of course, had touched down near Fruit Heights in Davis County, where severe thunderstorms had produced heavy rain, intense hail, and also localized property damage across some of northern Utah.

Well, we're definitely not gonna see that kind of storm activity for the next couple of days, as we've enjoyed a beautiful afternoon with clear skies.

Looks like it's gonna remain clear as we head into the night.

After about 15 minutes of looking at the stars, I grabbed his arm and pointed toward an ambient light that was moving rapidly from the south, around the area of a smokestack near Salterre, west of Magna and Salt Lake City.

The light appeared to travel from as far south as we could see, approximately from the Salt Lake City area toward Davis County, in about two seconds.

As they came over the Syracuse Clearfield area, its shape became very apparent.

Before that, it had looked more like an ambient light source rather than a star or airplane, which would typically appear as a distinct, sharp, and relatively small light.
