That's just, uh, pro forma for our society, but can you try to get inside the head of a, of a guy I've always respected, uh, for not making stupid statements and not making stupid decisions, for making one like that after yet another embarrassing loss?

I mean, I, I think, uh...

I, I, I talked to Billy on Saturday, uh, just kind of in the wake of all this, and I think he's about right.

I mean, Paul, who among us has not said something we regret in a moment of frustration? You know, it happens.

Uh, I would say that we might not have as much at stake, uh, as, as Mike Elko does, but I don't think it's much more complicated than that.

You know? I, I think certainly, you know, you hear stuff secondhand, whatever, um, about what people think about the program that you're putting your heart and soul into and all that stuff.

And, you know, when it doesn't go well, certainly you think back to like, "Hey, what are those people gonna think?" And, you know, I, like I said, I, I don't think it was, like, something calculated or whatever.

Uh, but, uh, what do you make out of what Josh Heupel has put on the field so far, and what, what are, what are the prospects of them pulling off a, another stunner this weekend?

What, what, what's your read on what's going on in Boulder right now?

I mean, Brandon Marion, I think, was a good hire.

He's a guy that his services have been wanted for quite some time.

But the staff has been moved around a lot.

You know, Dion likes to talk about the quality of his staff.

I think it's probably, in reality, his worst staff.

You know, Chris Marv has actually done a decent job defensively, but... you know, he's a guy that was out of coaching last year, had kind of come and just sort of been like an analyst on staff.

Or like, yeah, no, you guys suck.

They're

probably about right.

The reality is they didn't really make a lot of splashes in the portal.

You didn't lose a ton that really concerns you.

But when you're Alabama and you look around, Texas is getting better.

Ohio State is getting better.

We talked about Miami.

Make sure our hearers and listeners got to say that team again.

Like that's an insane thing to think about today.

No, we had like a long staff-wide call talking about the 90s.

And I think the thing that stood out to me was we're in the fledgling era of recruiting coverage.

But like the idea of hiding recruits.

I've talked to old Texas Tech coaches.

I lived in Dallas for a long time.

The way that that recruiting works is there's the I-35 window from Oklahoma City basically to San Antonio.

Is it still the same stuff or is it going to be a different set of skills?

What is the conversations like about players and coaches right now about what they can and can't do?

Well, the idea that the Soresby decision means that they can't penalize you for betting against your team, it doesn't really hold up.

So it's like, well, then what are you suspended two games for? That's what you're suspended two games for.

And you had to go through this whole thing.

He went to rehab, sort of had to show his contrition.

The court cited everything that he has done to do that.

So the fact that he even got there, it wasn't like they said, well, you can't enforce this.

But is any of that real? And if it is, then what happens next?

Like you said, it could be because it completely takes away their ability to sort of detach from everybody else.

Well, So, I mean, I'm just really skeptical that this bill is going to get very far at all.

You only have really a few weeks here where you can make this happen because you're going to go on summer recess.

And then when you come back in the fall, you're going to have a lot of Congress focusing on re-election.

Like, it's midterm season.

That's just the reality of where we're at and how Congress works.

So, like, you got kind of one shot to kind of rush this.

I'm saying what I'm saying is that do you think it ever becomes a moment where it's players with their union versus, you know, the NCAA?
