So in fact, there were a total of 17 baby deaths during that 12-month timeframe.

Now, however way you want to spin this, you have this spike in deaths, this strange spike, this anomaly, and even Sir David's, Professor Sir David Spiegelhalter, professor of statistics at the University of Cambridge, has said, you know, "This is an anomaly.

This is something that does need to be explained." So we cannot ignore the fact that there were significant numbers of babies who were dying in that unit in that 12-month period, and that Lucy Letby was on duty for 7 of those 13 deaths.

Now, at this point, the, the prosecution and the defense will go into a different narrative about how to explain that phenomenon.

Now, I, I personally believe that this was a significant spike in deaths.

These are, these could be life and death decisions, right? So it's absolutely essential that first of all, we don't become over-reliant on overconfident AI systems, but to be able to do that, we need our AI systems to be honest about their uncertainty and bring that u- that uncertainty in a visible form, um, to the human user so we can understand it.

And, and I mean, you know, my, my colleague at, at Cambridge, David Spiegelhalter, has done a lot of amazing work on how to convey uncertainties and probabilities, um, in elegant ways, um, to the general public.

And I think there, there are ways you can do that.
