David R. Ferguson

oh man

and so we had to kind of go back to the chopping block and figure out what we were going to do so we started sending it to different producers well I said you know one of my favorite producers is David Ferguson he's the guy that produced a bunch of Sturgill Simpson stuff.

He's the one that got Tyler Childers off the ground with his album Purgatory.

I said, send it to him.

So I was like, oh my God, this is my chance, you know? And so sure enough, I got to go to Nashville and we recorded it in February of 2025 and And I was so excited.

And we had a lot of amazing session musicians play on it.

And I told David Ferguson, I want you to work your Nashville magic on it, but I also don't want to lose my bluegrass sound.

So we recorded half the album bluegrass and half the album with electric music, you know, drums, electric bass, that kind of thing.

Tell me.

I wrote, I wrote that with, uh, th- three buddies of mine, uh, David Ferguson, uh, Dan Auerbach from, uh, Black Keys, and, uh, Pat McLaughlin, a fella I, uh, mentioned earlier that we wrote for about 30 years now together.

Anyway, the four of us thought it would be a good idea to get together and try and write some songs.

Uh, I think specifically we were gonna write them for Dan Auerbach's solo project.
