I guess technically I'm contracted to tell you that Space Ghost, the annual, this will be the second annual, right? for volume two uh is due out in stores on july 15th um and if you're listening to this on release week you can still pre-order this at your local comic shop uh by june 22nd so uh and help me out will this be the finale it it seems that way or maybe it's not

So our Space Ghost Annual, which is up for pre-orders now, it's coming out in July, it's the capstone to Space Ghost Volume 2, but it is not the end by any means.

You know, this second season of Space Ghost is kind of an interesting piece.

When Dynamite first approached me to write the book, they had offered me a very generous runway.

Joe Rybant, my editor, said, you know, what do you think you could do for a year? And I kind of twisted his arm a little bit and I said, what if we did 12 issues in an annual? Because then I could really build up a nice story involving Space Ghost as this cosmic vigilante and how he meets his sidekicks, Chan and Jace, for the first time and how we sort of build up to his classic rogues gallery in the Council of Doom.

And so it was around like issue 10 that Dynamite and I kind of had the same idea at the same time, which was what if we didn't have to stop this book? And so I already started kind of seeding breadcrumbs in issue 10 that would kind of turn into volume two.

Unlike Volume 1, which had a very strict runway, Volume 2 kind of kept growing.

And I'm curious, I guess without spoiling this book that we haven't even seen the first issue of, but I'm curious how that plays out.

um and he's got these like kind of armored frills that can you know are bulletproof and can you know um and he's sort of like a like a like a living tank igu who's my favorite um you know he's like if king kong and ben grim had a baby he's he's he's kind of the gregarious uh uh of the hercules like none of them talk but like as as as as as the rock ape he's the smartest one he's the one who is able to actually like turn things into tools um and yet he's, he's also the one with a sense of humor.

He's the one who's always like laughing at things and he's always goofing off with, uh, uh, uh, Xandor's son, uh, Dorno.

Um, but if you mess with his humans, gloves are off and he's got this amazing sense of agility that you wouldn't expect from somebody from a creature that size.

But if you put him in an urban environment, he's suddenly like, he's like scaling buildings and like leaping into the air and, and, and, and really like, um, uh, has a surprising sense of speed.

And he loves Zandor's wife, Tara.

You know, I sort of see their dynamic as if like Fay Wray and King Kong actually worked out.

He's got a lot of growing.

I mean, I understand that it's a lot of work and stuff, but you got a lot of amazing stuff out

there.

You know, listen, I feel very lucky, um, both, uh, professionally and personally, um, you know, that, uh, I, you know, I, every time you write a book, it's really a leap of faith.

And I feel like the OZ especially is, is kind of one of those books.

Um, you know, I, I, This is a book that I started very early in my career.

And this is a book that I actually had developed for a publisher back in the day.

And we made it like all the way to the one yard line in terms of approvals.

One question I wanted to ask was because, you know, in the last interview that we did, The Devil Wears My Face, I remember, I think after we... stop recording i remember bugging about hey when is issue three coming up you know now my whole thing is how how popular is this series like have have fans been pumped you know coming up to you at convention

you know i i really since the last kickstarter ended you know our our fan base is so passionate and so patient with us um we've been asking for a long time like you know When's the next issue going to come out? And I want to make something really, really clear because it would be so easy for people to think he did these two Kickstarters and then he got tapped at Marvel and he forgot all about us.

And I promise you that is not the case.

we've been hard at work on this kickstarter really since the last one um i wrote the oz for frame of reference um you know i started this book it was one of the the the the three books i started after um all right it's four books kenny spencer in law too but it was it was one of the books i started immediately after the first volume of spencer long I had actually originally developed this for a publisher and we made it to the one yard line.

And there was another fantasy series up against us with more creative team.

They got tapped.

But editor who had championed that book and he did me such a solid.

Dorothy has sort of enlisted her own kind of special group.

from the various constituencies of Oz.

The tin soldier who knew her grandmother and sort of this – he's this hulking kind of war machine made out of like patchwork scrap and steel.

We've got the Prince of Lions who's the son of the Cowardly Lion who was killed in the opening days of the war.

And so he's been wearing a mask kind of assuming his father's identity.

Well, He's been grappling with this profound sense of self-doubt, asking himself, how did my father do this? How was my father fearless and able to put his fears aside so he could lead the animal kingdom? And then as we'll see in our latest issue, Jack Pumpkinhead is going to be joining our squad.
