Democrat Socialist defeats Providence Mayor in a primary race.

Democrat Socialist David Morales has defeated Democrat Providence Rhode Island Mayor Brett Smiley in a mayoral primary race.

And now we have Democrat Socialist beating traditional liberal Democrats who are also fools and too far left wing.

But they aren't left enough for the Democrat Socialists because no one is left enough for the Democrat Socialists.

At the same time, Democrat voters in Providence, Rhode Island, voted out their current mayor, Democrat Brett Smiley.

Smiley lost to 27-year-old DSA candidate David Morales.

Since Morales is now the Democrat nominee, that makes him the odds-on favorite to win in November, since Providence hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1941.

Okay, now let's move on to another topic.

State Rep. David Morales, a 27-year-old member of the Democratic Socialists of America, defeated Mayor Brett Smiley in the Democratic primary for mayor of Providence on September 9th.

It ends the incumbent's bid for a second term in Rhode Island's largest city.

Morales will now face Republican David Tallon in the November 3rd general election.

Providence, Rhode Island Mayor Brett Smiley lost his Democratic primary Tuesday night with Rhode Island State Representative David Morales, a Bernie Sanders-endorsed Democratic socialist, prevailing.

Morales tapped into the progressive energy that has fueled a slew of challenges to incumbents this election cycle up and down the ballot.

His platform included proposals to cap rent hikes, expand affordable housing, and increase taxes on polluters and corporate landlords.

After New York City, Seattle, and D.C., can a socialist win the mayorship of Providence? The answer is yes.

Morales is focusing on housing and rent stabilization.

Yeah, I mean, I completely agree with you on this.

David Morales defeating the incumbent mayor, but incumbent mayor had never lost in the city of Providence in a primary.

And I mean, there was almost at times it felt insurmountable advantages that Brett Smiley had, massive financial advantage, all the institutional support.

um and quite honestly you know i i'm working on a column about this john you know the the thing that i find the most remarkable about what david morales was able to do is that they had a a pretty simple kind of theory of the case in this race uh you know i sat down with his campaign manager about a year ago and he looked at me and he said we're gonna get turnout to 26 or 27 000 people Which is a massive number compared to where it was four years ago.

It's like a 20% increase.

And I thought he was crazy.

Well, as you and I speak right now, it turned out to $26,700.

So they nailed it.

Reports say incumbent Governor Dan McKee and the mayor of the state's largest city, Providence Mayor Brett Smiley, both lost their respective Democratic primaries.

McKee lost to former CVS executive Helena Folks, whom he beat in a five-way primary four years ago, while Mayor Smiley lost to Democratic Socialist State Representative David Morales.
