David Mack

Russell Poole was the first LAPD detective assigned to Wallace's murder in 1997.

Within months, his investigation led him to two of the department's own officers, David Mack and Rafael Perez.

Both had ties to Death Row Records, the label run by Marion "Suge" Knight.

Mack was later convicted of bank robbery.

Poole's theory was that Knight used Mack's and an associate named Amir Muhammad to carry out the hit on Biggie, retaliation for Tupac's murder six months earlier.

That theory pointed directly at the department's own officers.

LAPD Chief Bernard Parks ordered Poole to stop investigating David Mack.

Poole resigned from the department in '99.

It's also been alleged that a lot of LAPD, not a lot, but there's a good number of LAPD.

under Suge Knight's payroll, David Mack being one of them.

LAPD is just known to be a bit corrupt.

We have LAPD documentation that states the Wilshire Division contacted Russell Poole because he was working the Kevin Gaines-Frank Liga case stating that they had information that Kevin Gaines was a potential suspect in the Biggie Smalls murder and requested more information on Gaines.

Within 24 hours of Biggie's murder, a confidential informant had told LAPD that an LAPD officer named Mack was involved in the murder.

These clues came in long before that case was passed to Robbery Homicide and given to Russell Poole.

It took a federal judge sending U.S.

Marshals down and locking down the Robbery Homicide Division, the most prestigious police department in the United States of America.

and accessing a secret compartment that Katz had nicknamed the forgotten files drawer in which they find hundreds of pages of evidence pointing to the involvement of David Mack and Rafael Perez in particular in the murder of Biggie Smalls.

The only files that were in this secret compartment were evidence pointing to those men as well as internal affairs reports on Mac, internal affairs reports on Perez, team's reports on Mac and Perez.

Well, months and months and months later, a bank robbery takes place in Los Angeles where a dirty LAPD cop named David Mack robbed a bank.

After the bank robbery, he's caught, thrown in jail.

And while he's in jail, he gets a visit from an old college roommate whose Muslim name is Amir Mohammed.

And so this detective is like, huh, Amir, that sounds familiar.

Didn't some jailhouse informant tell us about a guy named Amir? And he starts to develop this theory about this Amir Mohammed guy who was a friend of this dirty LAPD cop named David Mack.

And so that spawns into this massive conspiracy theory that captures the public attention, becomes the fodder for a book, and becomes the basis of this lawsuit.

Well, ultimately, that informant who suffered from severe bipolarism and is essentially very discredited, he discredits himself, essentially, because he gets everything about Amir Mohammed wrong.

He was the one that was in the car when Little Ceas said the Muslim shot Big.

I believe he was working in concert with David Mack and Rafael Perez, who was at the scene- Who said he picked up bullets.

Any cops know that you don't pick up bullets at the scene of a shooting.
