What advice would you give physicians focusing on clinical excellence, education, and research?

I would say that the most impactful thing that I did to achieve my clinical competence was attending multidisciplinary conferences.

You know, we tend to think of ourselves, like, in a vacuum in radiology, and we're spewing out these differential diagnoses and patting ourselves on the back about how wise we are.

And then you go to a conference, and, you know, the things that you've suggested are totally irrelevant to their consideration.

And this is most true, I think, in tumor boards, for example.

Um, we can sit there and give a differential diagnosis about a particular mass, but a lot of times the clinical issues really have to do with where the mass is, where it's invading, and whether it's spread to other locations.

The histology of it is not as important for the approach to the tumor by radiation therapy or by the surgeon as the spread of the tumor.
