There's a ton of work being put in and that physicality, as you were describing, reminds me a lot of like David Lang's music.

Yeah, I mean, I studied with David too.

Yeah, okay.

I think that probably basically covers it.

But it was like a text where I felt some kind of personal resonance with the text that I found.

And like, I think it was also a point where I was really like, I was maybe also like really thinking about like, you know, the David Lang way of like writing lyrics where you just like make a big list of stuff.

Um, and, uh, so I was kind of like, oh, this is kind of cool.

This is what she allegedly told the journalist interviewing her.

On September 23rd, 1880, a farmer named David Lang was walking through a field not far from his house.

His two young children, George and the aforementioned Sarah, played in the courtyard between where their mother, his wife, stood on the porch and where he, their father, was walking in the field.

Right at this moment in time, Two men, a lawyer named Judge August Peck and his brother-in-law, whose name has since been lost in the midst of time and retelling, were approaching the house in a horse-drawn vehicle.

All at once, David Lang's wife dropped what she had in her hands and screamed, while the two men in the buggy stopped, open-mouthed, and astonished at what they'd just seen.

Children also froze in shock and terror.

Right before no fewer than five sets of eyes, which were almost exclusively on him, David Lang disappeared into thin air in mid-step right off the face of the earth.

Despite there being a very intense search, no trace of him was ever found.

David Lang based his mystery sonatas on the famous pieces by Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber.

However, instead of following the life of Jesus, each movement is based on the composer's own intimate and spiritual thoughts.

Coming up this hour on Anytime Classical, we'll hear the Glory Movement, which the composer states, along with Joy and Sorrow, is one of the suite's central pieces.

In Fate magazine, the article was called How My Father Disappeared, and was allegedly taken straight from an interview with the daughter of the man who was said to have vanished into thin air.

She was a witness to the strange happenings that day and the days to come.

What are a couple of things coming up for you maybe next four or five months that are exciting you and yeah absolutely

so um i'm very excited to uh be premiering a new piece by kadi agosh uh for the belvedere series um that's going to be a horn trio so violin horn and piano and that will happen at the end of may um we're also talk is looking forward to uh premiering a new work by john adams uh so we're very excited to be uh presenting that at the ohai festival in california I think, as I mentioned earlier, we're going to be playing at the Fifth Avenue Armory next week, and that'll be a new work written for us by David Lang, a piece by Haydn, The Dream, and then a series of nocturnes, of which I wrote one, but Amy arranged the rest.

We got some Radiohead in there, we got some Poulenc, we got some Chopin, and then Bartok's Fourth Quartet.

So that's a program that we've really come to love, and so we'll be doing that.

We're going to be on tour next season and the following with Caroline Shaw, both in the States and in Europe.

We are looking forward to an album of the works of Paul Bianco, and we're going to be doing more work with David Lang, and i think next summer uh donica dennehy is writing a piece for us so we have some new works you know in the pipeline uh we're looking to also be playing some more late beethoven actually beethoven in general so stay tuned for that um of course that's the great thing that that you know you can basically be a string quartet and just play beethoven it'd be totally fine And I think that's the other thing.

The area around Glastonbury Mountain was searched extensively for the next several days, but sadly no trace of Paul has ever been found.

Then, 16 days after Paul Jepson's mysterious disappearance, a woman named Freda Langer disappeared on October 28th, 1950.

Freda was camping with several other family members in the forest near Glastonbury Mountain.

Langer, then age 53, along with her cousin, Herbert Elsner, had ventured away from the family's woodland campsite to go on a hike near the Somerset Reservoir.

They had managed to hike just a few hundred yards from their campsite when Frida lost her footing and fell into a mountain stream, completely soaking her shoes and clothing.

Due to the chilly fall temperature in the mountains, Frida told her cousin to wait while she ran back to their campsite to change into some dry clothes.
