well I've got a sort of twofer which is Haywire is the movie it launched the career of Gina Carano in film in film yeah she was obviously in women's mixed martial arts but that is a pretty competent starring Michael Fassbender and a few others like action thrillery sort of espionage one with her in a sort of Jason Bourne type role and it's got a fucking amazing soundtrack by David Holmes who is a frequent Soderbergh collaborator the one on the

brother of John

Yes.

It's got Luis Guzman who's in traffic.

It's got Clooney, of course.

David Holmes does a score for it.

Clooney is the bank robber who can rob banks just by going in and smiling at the teller and saying, just give me that money.

We've had a couple of things.

Last year we had, to coincide with the Oasis gigs, we had Bobby Gillespie down and we had David Holmes and we did some things in the stand.

Probably in, I think it was 2012 when the Garp Brooks original gigs were cancelled, we brought in a Garp Brooks tribute act.

One of the more unusual events in Dalymount and, you know, kind of got all the people who had travelled to Dublin and couldn't go to Crowe Park came to Dalymount and drank the bar dry and made us a few quid.

You'll not believe that.

It's from a guy called David Holmes.

I think literally coming from Belfast, this is a song called 69 Police, from the album Ocean's Eleven, that's right he did the soundtrack to that classic from 2001 I think it was, so there you go.

It became a really big thing.

So we, you know, we, we sometimes finish up in the studio and like Andrew was going to go and DJ in Leeds.

And so we'd jump in the car with him up to back to basics and go and see Dave Beer and for a night out we'd sometimes just finish up in the studio and then fly off to belfast to go see david holmes and watch him dj at sugar sweet and places like that so you know it was an amazing time you know brilliant i mean you know i used to love going over to belfast to david's club sugar sweet which was just absolutely incredible and we even played there as well i don't And I remember like going to Sugar Sweet and coming back from Belfast.

So this was at the time, you know, the troubles were still kind of going on.

And, you know, even then, you know, I used to work in David's studio.

Yeah.

If I went out tonight and there was good dance music going, you know, I'll be first to run up to one of David Holmes' nights, you know, and dance me arse off.

But I'm not going to listen to it at home.

I might listen to it in the gym.

Exactly.

But composer David Holmes, who is running the music production, entirely rejected modern studio gloss.

No sanitized, heavily polished Hollywood soundskins whatsoever.

Instead, they literally dragged the cast into the basement of the historical Casbah Coffee Club in Liverpool to record the raw rhythm sessions.

Yeah.

I had to look it up because I thought it might be David Holmes and it isn't.

Yeah, a very interesting composer who worked as a DJ before releasing several solo albums that incorporated elements of trip hop, big beat, rock, and electronic music.

He preferred drumming and engineering and making records.

But he did have a job assisting David Holmes on the album Bow Down to the Exit Sign.

I don't know if you've heard that album.
