Today's conversation features David Gleave MW, Chairman of Liberty Wines and comes in the wake of the recent release of his book Barolo and Barbaresco, The Primacy of the Vine.

We cover three themes that I hope will draw more people to this comprehensive and perhaps on first glance intimidating release.

First, we look at the power of stories covering David's own origin story, moving from his native Toronto to the UK and entering into the wine industry before falling in love with the Lange region, a region which has seen huge economic and cultural change since the 1960s.

So having that understanding, I think, will help you as the drinker understand why the wine you've got in the glass is the way it is.
