David Gedge

It's a really great album and typically from David Gedge you get all the kitchen sink dramas of his lyrics where he observes life and generally, usually, young people arguing over their relationship.

He's a good one for putting question marks in songs.

He's got songs like Why Are You Being So Reasonable Now? What did your last servant die of? And so on.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Dave Gedge, yeah, yeah.

But then like Bad Acid also put out like the Burning Witch album and like, I just remember getting all this stuff and we were just like, yeah, like, like why don't we just try and do something like more sort of doomy

so it's like a fucking gateway yeah yeah

We're going to hear four bands that have been interviewed in the current issue of Big Takeover, number 98 on the stands.

That has the wedding presence David Gedge on the cover, though we won't be hearing that band today because there are 18 interviews.

in that new issue, so we're trying to hit them all.

And the first two sets are going to be our fairly normal ones, which means that we're going to mix a lot of brand new recordings with occasional oldies, some fun little things there just to kind of tie things together.

We're going to take a quick little bird walk because you mentioned the word, the name John Peel.

I spoke to David Gedge of The Wedding Present, Vox of The Chameleons, and other artists who have sung Peel's praises.

So you had mentioned his name, so I got to ask, memories of him, what did you think of him, his vision, all of that?

Oh, great.

And the first track is going to be one of my favorite bands of all time.

So what a thrill it was for me to interview really David Gedge from the wedding present too, but for the cover story, but also especially the Ivor Hay and Ed Cooper interview I did for the saints who have been touring the world as the saints, 1973 to 1978, to make sure, you know, it was the original band.

One of the most incredible bands that ever walked the planet and still are with Mark Arm doing the late Chris Bailey's vocals and Mick Harvey on guitar and keyboards.

I mean, wow, it's a really fabulous lineup.

Here I am putting them on the cover of issue 98.

Long time later, 36 years later.

Obviously, Mr. David Gedge is the only one left from that lineup, but still, he's had pretty constant lineups over the years.

People do come and go, but they tend to stay a good while.
