He becomes a sculptor.

And he then ascends like Dave Bowman at the end of 2001 because there's plenty of... of Kubrick in this, right? It's the same kind of journey goes through this transformative thing and then ascends into the heavens.

So like David Bowman becomes the star child.

And for me, that processing of trauma, that transformation makes this my top Spielberg film.

The parallels are incredibly deliberate.

In 2001, Dave Bowman travels through the Stargate, transcends his physical limitations, and is reborn by higher beings into a godlike figure, the Star Child.

And in Interstellar, Cooper enters the Tesseract, transcends physical dimensions, and becomes the very ghost he sought to investigate.

But the mechanism of how he navigates that infinite space is what really gets people talking.
