The Baszucki, uh, Foundation, if you don't know, uh, founded by, uh, Jan Ellison Baszucki and her husband, David Baszucki, um, after their son, Matt Baszucki, uh, uh, experienced, uh, now a very sus-sustained remission of severe bipolar disorder using a ketogenic diet.

And so they now fund clinical trials around the world and educational efforts and, uh, there's lots of free resources on their website at Metabolic Mind.

Um, I also, uh, not too long ago, uh, created a searchable international clinician database.

At its annual developer conference, the company unveiled new AI creation tools and new ways to play beyond the Roblox app.

Joining us now is Roblox CEO Dave Baszucki.

Um, it was just packed weekend, um, and a really critical moment for you with the developers conference.

I, I would be really grateful to start with the, the AI tools part.

So we shared at our creator conference a lot of the creators that are now starting to focus on, uh, 2D puzzle games, 3D immersive RPGs, and that class of game.

So we're gonna see more and more content, not just for younger players, but older players on the platform too.

Dave Baszucki of Roblox, thank you so much for being back on the show.

I've had a number of conversations, whether it's with Demis Hassabis, uh, Dara Khosrowshahi, Sam Altman, uh, specifically about these issues and, and how to balance innovation with a form of governance that, that takes safety into account.

And then later, Shabani got incorporated as well.

So we ended up having them, and I'm forever grateful to the Baszucki for funding our trial.

We have now managed to put together a trial, which is funded for up to 100 patients with bipolar and schizophrenia.

And it is what you would probably define a relatively gold standard randomized controlled trial.

We started in twenty nineteen.

This is when we started thinking about, you know, how, how we are gonna get the funds.

And, and then of course everything went much faster after Baszucki came in the-- in, in, in the place and, and, and, and we, we had the opportunity to recruit a dietician, and we were so lucky to get dietician enrolled in this trial.

Um, and one word for Jamie Lee, who was actually meant to be next to me, our dietician, and unfortunately couldn't make it today.

Both these things, really important for the long-term prospects of the business, a common, um, a common approach we see from high quality founders, despite impacting short-term financials.

So Dave Baszucki, the founder of Roblox, has been doing this for 22 years, making these trade-offs for 22 years to maximize long-term growth at the expense sometimes of short-term earnings.

So if you have the patience there, we think Roblox is really attractive.

In a letter sent to Roblox CEO, David Baszucki, the subcommittee criticized the company for prioritizing revenue over the safety and wellbeing of children, warning that Congress will not look the other way.

The letter also directs Roblox to preserve all internal records on child safety and includes nearly 30 documented requests that the company must respond to by August 31st.

Roblox's Chief Safety Officer, Matt Coffman, has responded that the platform is built on the foundation of safety.

Saber Interactive added an AI disclosure to the Steam page for Rideshare Simulator after CEO Matt Karsh spent a week feuding with former lead writer Stella Saiko, who says she was replaced by ChatGPT.

Karsh's statement opened with [laughs] "Stella who? I had to ask Claude." Then confidently explained why this total stranger was let go.

Uh, yes, the United States Senate have opened a- an investigation into Roblox, um, which continues to, and I quote, "Be accused of placing its youngest users at risk of exploitation and predation, despite implementing a number of additional safety measures in recent months." Uh, and apparently, in a letter addressed to Roblox Corp CEO and founder David Baszucki, spotted by Kotaku, Senate Judiciary Committee subcommittee on Crime and Counterterrorism chairman Josh Hawley said the public record raises serious questions about whether or not the company is making good on its promise to protect children.
