And last for the interview, certainly not least, is Dr. Dave Shapiro.

Dave gave the accreditation session on Friday, and I'll walk through that in a few minutes after his interview.

But when the two of us sat down, we didn't talk about accreditation at all.

And specifically in that conversation, who in your building is supposed to be having that conversation with the patient? Here's Dave.

I'm here at the California Ambitory Surgery Center Association's 2026 meeting, and we're in absolutely beautiful Monterey, California.

I'm here with Dave Shapiro.

Dave, I can't believe that you have never been on this podcast.

We got signed to Rise Records.

We got, like, the dream team of that era, which was, you know, all the bands we looked up to, um, you know, which was Dave Shapiro booking, uh, Eric Rushing managing, and, uh, Rise Records.

And then I've, yeah, you know, we started touring, and we made a record called Someday Came Suddenly when I was 15, and it was full time on the road ever since I was 15.

And, um-

Maybe.

I don't know." And then, you know, I, my now longtime manager, Tom, who was Attack! Attack!'s tour manager and, like, kind of a, one of the heads of the local scene growing up, uh, he was like, "Let me manage it." You know? "Let me just..." And I was like, "No, dude.

I don't wanna tour." You know, I had hit up Dave Shapiro and said, "Could you maybe, if I get the itch, throw this weird thing I'm doing on, like, some tour for two or three weeks just so I can, like, you know, get the wiggles out?"

Right.

Nine days later, they lost something else.

Dave Shapiro was their agent.

He built their career, one of the most consequential people in modern heavy music, the man who put I Prevail on the tours that made them.

On May 22nd, 2025, he was killed in a plane crash in San Diego.

You know, I do gotta bring up Dave Shapiro.

You lost him, uh, in May 2025.
