we're here today to talk about really two two big projects one that's getting underway one that just completed right so ropes course down quincy point and brill fields is completely renovated let's start with the ropes course what is the ropes course

the ropes course is very exciting it's basically a high ropes challenge course the city had a proposal almost 15 years ago to do something uh similar to this and what a ropes course is really about isn't climbing up in a high spot or swinging or anything else like that it's more about teens and pre-teens and helping them develop leadership courage communication and teamwork and the mayor recognizes that it's very difficult to be a teenager in a preteen a middle school in a high school in today's day and age with the technology and all the other challenges that young people face in today's day and age so he's trying to build supports just beyond the school system beyond the rec program and augment what we're providing to these young people so we're working with matt lowe who ran the sheriff's camp for 18 years which was incredibly popular with quincy residents i remember myself my wife all of our neighbors and their friends holding the phone at 11 59 waiting for midnight so they can register to register yeah there's always a waiting list yeah And unfortunately, the Sheriff's Camp didn't happen this past summer, so we're basically stepping into a void that Quincy residents, whether it be through a week-long program during the summer or partnership with the Quincy Public Schools, that really, through Matt's leadership, will provide some additional skills to these young people that I think they desperately need in this day and age.

in that parking lot here okay um the what i'm hoping for is people uh we applied again for a cpc grant um a number of years ago to do some master planning in squaw rock to talk about the improvements that the community wants to see at the park.

It's been probably Quincy's one of our best hidden gems for many, many years.

But it needs some attention.

We made improvements to Faxon Park.

We made improvements to Marymount Park.

[laughs]

Oh, I could write so many stories, but that's when the drinking started.

I was only about 18 And the anxiety attacks, the PTSD, the panic attacks, I didn't know how to deal with them, so I drank.

And I started going to pubs, uh, five or six nights a week.

And I wasn't drinking bottles of beer, I was drinking the giant pitchers of beer.

And nobody knew.

Everyone thought I was just a funny guy.

What, what keeps you moving forward in a spiritual way and in recovery?

So what most people don't realise is that we've been part of a stage play for the whole of human history, pretty much.

So, you know...

All the things that are playing out in the world that we think are organic, no, they're not organic.

They're staged.

They're pre-scripted.

yeah there's not been a more interesting time to be alive than this no

You know, why didn't they get kind of, you know, ample compensation or comparable comp- compensation in return?

Yeah, so I've been kind of, uh, uh, you know, I've kind of been on the, in the minority among the people kind of, uh, projecting this draft value where I, I was wondering if they would even get a first that, that wasn't conditional or something like that.

Uh, you know, I- and that's mostly because I think, uh...

Look, these teams, they all have access to the same data, right? They have, you know, obviously the Patriots don't have the, the RFid data from, from Eagles practice sessions, but, you know, they know exactly how fast guys are running, how high they're jumping, um, how they compare to, to what they were two or three years ago.

And while, while that, they guard that data with their life, and I have, I have not seen it, you know, I would suspect that it matches what we've seen a little bit with our eyes.

You know, I know that, that, you know, going back a year, you know, th-there are people who have thought that A.J. was, was, uh, slowing a half a step, you know? Uh, don't get me wrong.

It, it's not to say that, uh, you know, it's not to say that they're s- they sold a bill of goods to the Patriots, but I think that they were nervous, um, about how he would age over these next two or three years.

Um, Joe, what do you make of like what they have existing now on the roster? I mean, there's, there's some question marks certainly in terms of, uh, how they're going to compensate for the loss of AJ Brown.

You must be delighted.

It has been a lot of hard work by some very enthusiastic people, and that's what's made it happen.

Paul Bradley, myself, and a couple of others discussed it, yeah, a couple of years ago.

And to be perfectly honest, we were influenced by the model that the Australians have got.

They were bringing in 65s, and we felt we didn't want our 60s tailing off and having to wait until they were 70 before they could play representative cricket.

And whilst we couldn't get it quite off the ground last year, Trevor Lee managed to get a game as a bit of a tester down in the southwest against a- another side, and it worked very well as a two-day game.

And we were then determined to persevere and get it going this time.

What has the feeling been from the county reps as you've s- discuss things and try and get this competition going?
