And unfortunately, he passed away about 10 years ago, and I never had the opportunity.

But hey, Kalani, call me, okay? Anyways, today I have the opportunity to sort of interview Coach Lavelle Edwards, and that is because I get to interview Mark Ogletree and Dave McCann, who both wrote the book The Leadership Legacy of Lavelle Edwards.

And this is a fantastic, especially for you BYU fans or anybody interested in leadership book.

Lavelle Edwards was a unique and powerful leader.

And we talk about different stories.

They interviewed so many former players, staff, loved ones of Coach Edwards and put this book together, focusing on the leadership principles that were prominent in his style.

now mark ogletree is a stake president he's a byu professor of church history and doctrine he is a therapist as well he's been on the podcast before and dave mccann those of you that follow byu sports will definitely recognize dave as he's been a commentator on byu sports and broadcaster of all things BYU for several years.

And so this is a great match of individuals to come together and write this phenomenal book.

So this week, we thought we'd shift gears a little bit.

I had the opportunity to go to education week here at BYU last week and hear Mark speak about his experience the new book that he wrote with his friend Dave McCann.

And they have spent a year interviewing every player, ex-coach, everyone who knew Lavelle and loved Lavelle and worked with Lavelle.

And it's an amazing book.

And until we could find someone who did, we were just kind of stuck.

And so, meanwhile, that was in 2016.

And it's not until 2022, 2023, Dave McCann, who's in our stake, was always hitting me up and saying, hey, we should write something together.

We want to do something.

Hi, everybody.

I'm Dave McCann.

These are two teams with identical conference records, one and three, but moving in opposite directions.

So they will kick it off.

He was my roommate.

We roomed together for two years, and then I started rooming with a couple of cross-country guys, like two roommates, Dave McCann and Jimmy Schletz.

And I roomed with them.

It was great.

I ran hard.

And I came back in the fall.

And I remember telling my roommate, Dave McCann, I used to go, Dave, it's not a matter whether I'm going to win or lose or not.

It's a matter of how fast I'm going to go.

I will also give a shout-out to Wise Guys, which—sorry, Wise Guy, excuse me.

Wise Guys is Dave McCann's podcast.

They do a really fine job.
