Dave Hunter

But then it's making sure that you're giving a kid a responsibility, right? And that can be a simple thing like working on getting pucks out of the zone and getting pucks in the zone.

I, I've told this story before, but when I was with Edmonton Oilers, there was a, uh, a player named Dave Hunter that, that was a staple on those Stanley Cup teams.

And as a young player, I asked my brother, who was an equipment manager at the time, I didn't understand 'cause I felt like I had better skill than Dave Hunter, and he was maybe bigger than me, and I couldn't understand how he kept making the team.

And my brother said that because he's like Mr. Miyagi.

Mr. Miyagi in Karate Kid, wax on, wax off.

Kind of got off topic.

Like I said, Dave Hunter had lunch with Hunts this week, and then he whipped down the next day down to Lloyd Minster, which is booming down there, and you worked in Lloyd Minster.

I certainly did.

I went to go play hockey there, too.

You know, a young guy out of Paradise Hill in Saskatchewan, you know, he hauled fuel as a young kid.

He told me that he would walk out of high school and he would climb into this three-ton fuel truck, like he was hauling gasoline and he was hauling diesel to the farmers.

and uh one of his first on his first date he took his uh you know the wife became his wife uh they went in that truck and uh you know he serviced saint walberg and all those people out there and um just a heck of a guy dave hunter's like that too he can dave hunter can slip into a conversation i don't care if you're talking to the president of ibm or the president of anything, or you could turn around and he could be talking to the, you know, the, the dirt farmer from down around Sedgwick that he just, he's a chameleon that way and, and just fits in so well.

But yeah, I can't say enough great things about Cal.
