James O'BrienHOST
17:26
Obviously, I, I make no bones about the fact that I'm comfortably off, but asking whether you've turned the heating on is not really an opportunity to start indulging in ludicrous class war.
James O'BrienHOST
17:37
Uh, Harry's in Dartford.
James O'BrienHOST
17:38
Harry, question or answer?
HarryAUDIENCE
17:40
Question, please.
Craig Revel HorwoodGUEST
33:01
Well, I think probably, um, my first one.
Craig Revel HorwoodGUEST
33:04
It wasn't Dartford.
Chris EvansHOST
33:05
Right.
Chris EvansHOST
33:06
[laughs] Okay.
Chris EvansHOST
33:07
So we know it wasn't Dartford.
Craig Revel HorwoodGUEST
33:08
I, I loved D- I loved Dartford.
Craig Revel HorwoodGUEST
33:09
[laughs]
Chris EvansHOST
33:09
So not Dartford.
Nick SalomanHOST
10:47
Can you believe it? He fell off his bicycle and got killed.
Nick SalomanHOST
10:51
I don't know, what a way to go, eh? Dick Taylor, of course, as you probably know, the original Pretty Things were kind of from the Dartford area, where the Stones were from, and they were friends with the Stones, and I think Dick Taylor started off in, actually as a member of the Stones, but then he kind of decided to continue his art project at Art College and didn't go with them, and then later on formed the Pretty Things with Phil May, and that, you know, So they were from the very same area as the Stones, as were Byrne Elliot and the Fen Men.
Nick SalomanHOST
11:25
And some of the Fen Men ended up in the pretty things.
Nick SalomanHOST
11:28
So it's all kind of mates round from the Dartford area, which is a little, well, it's not a little, it's a kind of... what would have been a Kent market town just southeast of London, but is now basically incorporated in Greater London.
Nick SalomanHOST
11:43
It's still got a postcode of Kent, but it's actually, you know, if you go from Dartford to London, you don't go through any countryside.
Nick SalomanHOST
11:50
It's all built up.
Nick SalomanHOST
11:52
um yeah so there you go that's uh that's what that before that we had as as i was telling you ruffle doing uh or not ruffle that's the name of the album it's the studio group doing um blah blah whatever it was called go mean yeah uh now i'm going to play you a track by roxy music and uh i really love their second album uh for your pleasure which uh which came out in uh 1973 and I went straight out and bought it because I heard a couple of tracks off it and thought that is fantastic and I still think the first side of Roxy Music's For Your Pleasure is an absolute work of I wouldn't say genius I think that's an overused work in pop music I was actually discussing that with my wife the other night like is there any geniuses in pop music or are there any geniuses and we came to the conclusion there's a lot of really good people in there you know But not really many.
Will CarrollGUEST
12:00
And therefore, the research is gonna be just as important if it's in Oxford or Cambridge or UCL.
Will CarrollGUEST
12:09
It, it's just as important in Doncaster and Darlington and Dartford And, um, and we've got to make sure that those research opportunities are open to all pediatricians.
Will CarrollGUEST
12:20
Uh, how do we get that to happen? How do we get from where we are to that utopia where every single child who's seen in secondary or primary care ha- is eligible to take part in research, and people are gonna take the time to speak to families about it, and we get better treatments, and we have more evidence? Well, we get to that utopia by working together.
Will CarrollGUEST
12:40
We get those teams in Oxford, Cambridge, UCL, the centers that are doing great work in research, Southampton, for instance, um, and we link them up, and we link them up with people working in centers that maybe haven't had the opportunity before but have got the appetite to do it.
Raf NicolsonGUEST
26:26
No, and there definitely were women's county championships were, that were chronically affected.
Daniel NorcrossHOST
26:31
Raff, when you spoke about a lot of them being teachers, was that a lot of them at Dartford College, or does-
Raf NicolsonGUEST
26:34
Mm
Daniel NorcrossHOST
26:34
... does that come into the picture a bit later? 'Cause there were quite a few who were PE teachers at Dartford, and that's quite a significant, um, institution, wasn't it, for the women's game?
Raf NicolsonGUEST
26:42
Yeah, definitely.
Raf NicolsonGUEST
26:43
Um, so again, it's these kind of, um, all, they're all sort of all-female, um, training colleges, um, that are specifically training women to be PE teachers, um, that were set up.
Raf NicolsonGUEST
26:55
So Dartford's the original, um, set up in the late 19th century, and then others are established in the early 20th century.
Raf NicolsonGUEST
27:02
But Dartford is a big one because it kind of becomes known for producing England women cricketers.
Mark WalkerHOST
8:57
And, you know, governments tend to sometimes, as they transition, even between parties, they sometimes tend to just sort of carry on almost zombie-like as before without realizing that there's a different brain in control now.
Mark WalkerHOST
9:14
And the government has, over the summer, published its highways financing bill which is intended to effectively privatise not just the Lower Thames crossing, which hasn't been built yet, but also the existing Dartford motorway crossings, which are going to be handed over to the private sector.
Mark WalkerHOST
9:35
who will collect the tolls and to help pay for the new crossing as well.
Mark WalkerHOST
9:42
And people have started now to notice, including interestingly in the right wing press, that this is somewhat inconsistent with the new prime minister's criticism of the neoliberal model.
JohnHOST
27:23

DanHOST

into a game
ShiHOST
6:47
well you know we've got the games night coming soon so it's next week the 10th of October and that's in Dartford so maybe we could adapt that game I was thinking of a particular game that I wanted to play which was really interesting is where it's like an icebreaker maybe I shouldn't really reveal it but somebody would write their either fab name scene name on a card and then if you see someone that you're interested in um whatever aliases you've got either fat live fab whatever it is you can write them all down or you can write one down you can write your scene name and then if you see somebody that you like you hand them the card with your fab name on it and then they give you theirs back
DanHOST
7:34
Okay.
DanHOST
7:35
Yeah.
Tony RobinsonHOST

Tony RobinsonHOST

Two days later, Abel, boosted with reinforcements, launched the first rebel strike on a major military target.

Tony RobinsonHOST
25:55
A week after the start of the revolt, the peasants had the confidence to attack one of the best defended fortresses in the land.
Tony RobinsonHOST

Rochester Castle had a fearsome reputation.
Tony RobinsonHOST
26:37
