They're your players, right? Yeah, absolutely.

Yeah, I mean, a young Darren Glass who took a year or two to probably two years before he became a regular in the team.

in and out of the team give him an opportunity have a look at him he was dropped get some games under his belt in the waffle come back in for a few just see it and but watching him grow into the player and then the captain he became was was pretty special

Um, so there was a lot of those examples in a couple of young South Australians come in, in Sam Butler and Bo Waters, uh, and playing as teenagers in the, um, 2006 premiership, um, was pretty special.

So you can sort of roll through so many little stories like that.

Um, but yeah, 2000, um, two three and four we finished eighth like we we made the finals and got knocked out first week of the final so we were going to write and through that time we were experimenting we were giving players opportunities trying to see who were going to be the serious who were going to grab the spots and become regulars in the team to make us a great team So that's why we would play a young Darren Glass, just trying to see how good is this kid going to be? Is he going to become the player we hope he will become and hold down full back for a long time? It took us a couple of years to see that in him.

And in that meantime, we were giving other guys an opportunity.

Really? Yeah.

I don't think Darren Glass ever got a vote.

Maybe he did late in his career, but he would have played –

Harry Cunningham, 204 eligible games without a vote.

So I got in my CRV and cruised home.

And just as I was arriving at home, I could see him and Darren Glass shaking my parents' hands at the front door.

And I was, of course, trying to beat him home to like soften the blow or whatever.

And I didn't actually know exactly what it was for.

And my mum's sitting there and Darren Glass and Simo kind of like, right, so this is what's happened and started interrogating me.

And I was just lying through my teeth like, no, I don't know.

He's also a member of a very, very good WA18s team that won the national titles.

So I had some real good support and I did it every now and then.

But early on when Dean Cox and Darren Glass and these type of players, they would go to Niz for advice and Niz would just tell them.

So I'm not sure who's doing that with Pendlebury and these guys.
