They didn't recruit him out of high school, and then he was, of course, a linebacker on that 95 team that beat Notre Dame, Lou Holtz and Notre Dame, at the start of the season.

And that was that great Rose Bowl team with, I believe, Darnell Autry was their running back.

And, you know, Pat Fitzgerald was an exceptional college linebacker.

He was a tremendous college linebacker.

I was fascinated with that Northwestern team.

And Musso and Steve Schnur, the quarterback, and Darnell Autry, the running back, and Gary Barnett, the coach.

And many years later, I worked with Gary Barnett a bunch on TV and really developed a relationship with him that I value.

And And I met Darnell Autry, who played on the Eagles team with a friend of mine.

So I got to know some of those people, but I never and always got to tell them how much I admired what they did.

And I never got to meet Pat Fitzgerald.

I was fascinated with that Northwestern team.

No, you can't do that.

But Northwestern had also like recently gone to the Rose Bowl, right? Shout out Darnell Autry.

So they weren't totally, totally coming out of nowhere.

It was a 28 point underdog.

So yeah, he had just finished.

So obviously the big story is Pat Fitzgerald's return to coaching.

miracle worker no one ever thought that anybody could ever match any kind of success at northwestern like they had when pat fitzgerald was the mike linebacker there and our old friend gary barnett took them to the rose bowl and had a couple years with darnell autry and steve schner and all of that and then they had a coach pass away remember and fitzgerald got a battlefield promotion and ended up becoming one of the great stories in big 10 football for years and winning the Big Ten West and fighting it out and doing the impossible and playing in all three phases.

So we'll be excited to welcome Pat Fitzgerald back to the Big Ten.

And their opponent is Toledo.
