Okay, so moving from the psychological toll to the physical toll, there's a 2018 series called Darling in the Franxx, and this is basically the teenage body horror sibling to Uprising [chuckles], which is quite a reputation.

It really is.

Darling in the Franxx was a massive collaboration between Trigger, A-1 Pictures, and CloverWorks.

It's a 24-episode series about children who are raised in these isolated domed plantations.

Plantations, like farms.

Basically.

Darling in the Franxx.

A series that takes the concept of the pilot's interface and turns it into something deeply morally revolting.

We are introduced to a post-apocalyptic Earth ravaged by bizarre alien entities called Klaxosaurs.

Humanity is pushed to the brink, relying on adolescent squads to pilot specialized mechs called Franxxes to defend their mobile fortress cities.

And at the center is the massively popular character, Zero Two, a pilot who is herself half human and half Klaxosaur.

She is literally genetically linked to the enemy destroying humanity.
