And we get up onto the Downs and other places as well.

Of course, 4RO in Rockhampton and throughout central Queensland and on the Great Resonate Network from Gundawindi all the way through to Mount Isa.

The further you go from Brisbane, the greater the damage.

Across the Darling Downs, central Queensland, the Outback, far north Queensland.

Way of life, it's changing.

And we'll see that southeastern push inland as well.

So it's going to bring a bit more showers around the southeast, pushing into the Darling Downs, even into parts of the southern and central interior as well.

Along with that will come the chance of some thunderstorm activity tomorrow.

across these areas from areas you'd say the southern Capricornia right down into the Downs and areas east of about in June in the southern tier have the chance of seeing some shower and even some isolated thunderstorm activity during the rest of today and certainly a watch point here particularly over the Downs where we've got some ongoing fires in that area as well so certainly a watch point with the potential for for lightning across this area given the underlying very dry conditions Some of the shower activities, particularly in the Downs, could generate some isolated falls of 5 to 10 mil, but most other areas across the interior in relation to this activity, generally a couple of mil at best, if anything.

Did you say that those storms were mostly widespread across the Downs country?

They'll be probably more isolated across the southern tier, but certainly southern parts of the Downs, or the Darling Downs in general, we could see a bit more scattered storm activity this afternoon as that southeasterly starts to push inland.

We did see some storms affect the southern Downs during yesterday evening as well that dropped about five to ten mil around the particularly around the southern border area and around parts of the granite belt as well and certainly further storms today tomorrow that storm risk uh really just a small area between about roma and charleville tomorrow as well as that that southeasterly or that converging area just pushes a little bit more inland but today is probably the the key risk in terms of that southeast corner

Turning towards the central interior, how are the fire conditions going in that part of the world?

Jota and Joty season is fast approaching.

The Darling Downs Radio Club is working with a number of scouts and guide groups around the region to support this well-regarded gateway to the hobby of a thousand hobbies.

Dave, VK4JPS, and Perry, VK4PER, are putting together a number of activities to be run over the period of 16th to 18th of October... including a 40-metre station to talk to the relatively close and eastern seaboard contacts, and an FT8 station that will work the bands and try to demonstrate how propagation changes throughout the day, using grid tracker for some visuals.

Now, down through eastern parts of the state, as I said, there's some more fires down there, especially around...

The Wide Bay and Burnet and around the Southern Highlands, Southern Central Highlands, Coalfields and Darling Downs in the southeast.

A little bit of shower activity feeding in through there, even the possibility of one or two storms.

So hopefully they do get something over the firegrounds, but it's not all set because of the patchy nature of showers.

Yes, so temperatures are going to warm up ahead of that southerly change.

So around southwestern Queensland, potentially the mid-30s through the weekend, even Longreach may be getting to sort of 35 on Monday.

Around the Darling Downs and Granite Belt, potentially 30, 31 degrees in the western Downs by the end of the weekend and around 26 for Toowoomba.

But once that suddenly change comes through on the Monday, it's going to be sort of widespread cloudy weather, cooler air feeding in off the Tasman Sea.

It's on now, so for people up in that area of the top end of the South Burnett area, For the Darling Downs, there's the Carnival of Flowers going through until the end of the weekend.

The Mary Valley Scarecrow Competition, and there are some.
