Dark wave

So there's all these music festivals that happen every year.

There's dozens of them, from Coachella to the fringiest Dark Wave music festival.

Usually, the headliners are known, but if you start drilling down into, keep going down into, like, who's playing, it's like, I just call them the fi- the small print artists.

And even though I listened through hundreds of artists per week to scour the, these new talents, I've still have never heard of these artists.

It's called Golden Child.

If you're into any of the Crousey dark, what would you call it, dark wave?

Yeah, dark

wave.

I don't like to do that.

But this popped up and it ticked a lot of boxes for me.

And it's Korean Dark Wave.

So it's Gothic Korean or K-Goth.

So I got into them from that, but never really got much to anything beyond that track.

And now all the Darkwave bands cover

that song.

if I remember, they're pretty extensive.

Founded by Darkwave visionary Adrian Hates in 1989.

Since then, 30 releases and more than 600 concerts in 43 countries.

I have no respect for them.

Dark Wave.

I have no respect for any of this.

I like the Cure as much as the next guy, but it doesn't make me want to think about death.

Gary Newman in his 80s synth pop masterwork sounded like it was from Mars, really, compared to the other stuff on the radio.

He was the instigator of New Wave, Dark Wave, industrial music, electronica, EDM.

Gary Newman is a pioneer of every genre I just mentioned.

He even looked and sounded like he came from another planet, and he was awesome.

And this is where she is.

It's kind of this, I don't know, I think you probably call it I don't know, probably Dark Wave, I think, is the genre.

Lots of gloomy synths.

And she's classically trained.

And as I do, I always re-listen to these records.

And I'm thinking, I really don't know why I haven't listened to more because it really is very, very good.

And if you like kind of the synth wave, dark wave kind of thing, I mean, I think she's probably like a leading light in that genre.

And I keep thinking I really should listen to more of her stuff.

Today, we are looking at a New York takeover by the legends of fuzz, a farewell to a giant of music criticism, and a trip to the Texas hill country that is producing some of the most defiant hip-hop we have heard all year.

We have also got Darkwave from the coast and Orchestral Prague from Norway.

It is a dense one.

Let us start with the volume, because Jay Maskis is about to turn New York into a Fender-fueled playground.
