Dark Star Orchestra

It's like they can go everywhere from old time music to Grateful Dead music to... you know, they can swing in a lot of different directions.

And we did an electric show over at the Dark Star Orchestra the other day, the Jubilee in Ohio.

It just developed out of me being a guest and then me being featured as, you know, the singer of the music of Olden in the Way.

Yeah.

And, you know, his group will be out there doing three dates for me to come out and do two dates.

So it's still an unraveling, it's still an evolving thing.

And as I said, we played yesterday, I mean, over in Ohio with the Dark Star Orchestra Festival Jubilee.

We played electric with drums.

It sort of revived my interest in music and deepened my understanding and knowledge of the immense body of work.

And I'd gone to see Dark Star Orchestra a couple times.

I'm thinking that this is a thing that's going to hang around.

This has really worked its way into the root system of of american culture american musical culture you know becoming multi-generational it was like it was almost like a genre you know uh it was like bebop or something or or beethoven like it was going to be played in repertory you know and uh And my obsession with the taped record just deepened.

Okay.

So in April I opened up for a dark star orchestra in, um, Honolulu.

Yeah.

And Barry and I, we'd already booked some shows in April, duo shows here, because we loved doing what we did so much.

Yeah.

And it actually works.

So you sat in when Dark Star Orchestra was in.

When I opened the film, yeah.

And I think that will be the case for hundreds of years.

Yeah, I mean, I think that that's true, and I mean, I love the cover bands like Joe Russo and Dark Star Orchestra.

I've seen that Red Rocks, and I mean, it really...

It allows you to feel like you're living back when they were in their prime for those like me.

Okay.

And he was also the person that was responsible for Dark Star Orchestra.

Oh, yeah.

The giant, uh, uh, Grateful Dead cover band- The Grateful Dead, yeah ... who's, even they had people w- from the Dead play with them.
