now flash forward to 2026 and it feels like it's all starting to come out finally
Bryce ZabelGUEST
3:45
and arrow just uh we have some personal experience that is kind of mind-blowing in in retrospect we created a tv series about an alien invasion called dark skies for nbc and we're having a premiere party And a guy crashed the party.
Bryce ZabelGUEST
4:01
The only guy out of 200 people in my backyard I didn't know.
Bryce ZabelGUEST
4:04
And he identified himself as being from the Office of Naval Intelligence.
Brent FriedmanGUEST
5:20
Ultimately, we did not take the deal.
Brent FriedmanGUEST
5:22
But as Bryce mentioned, we're finding that there were other people in Hollywood that were offered the deal.
Brent FriedmanGUEST
5:27
And in our second episode of our podcast, we take another personal experience we had, which was during the making of the Dark Skies pilot.
Brent FriedmanGUEST
5:35
Our director was a very good friend of Steven Spielberg's.

It's also... you can draw parallels to Men in Black but we'll we can talk about that if we want to
Chris SpiveyHOST
32:20
or Dark Skies if you remember that series right like it's two seasons that was out
Eddy WebbHOST
32:26
so yeah so like to your point that's good it's good in terms of reverse it's a good shout out because like in the 90s everyone's like no aliens don't exist and that and then the conspiracy and the cover-up were kind of the the zeitgeist at the time whereas here believing in the existence of alien life was not a weird fringe belief like it was in the 90s Lots of people in very respected parts of society were openly interested in talking about alien life, and a lot of – ufo sightings were considered noteworthy enough to make you know the pages of newspapers right so um yeah this is the kind of cultural snapshot we're in we're talking about this show an organization devoted to uncovering these strange sightings and trying to find out this alien life and making sure they're protecting planet would not seem infeasible especially because they are a secret organization in the same way that GI Joe is a secret organization.
Eddy WebbHOST
33:29
Um, uh, so yeah, it's an interesting point of time.

Jeff MooreHOST

This is another one.
Jeff MooreHOST
53:10
He directed the pilot episode of Dark Skies, too.
Crystal ClevelandHOST
53:14
Oh, I like Dark Skies.
Crystal ClevelandHOST
53:15
Yeah,
Bill MulliganHOST
53:16
he seemed to have better luck with TV than film toward the end.
Bryce ZabelHOST
8:47
And going back to the active investigation part of this whole thing, what was really interesting is I think at the beginning, you and I knew at the very least we have a spine here.
Bryce ZabelHOST
8:57
The spine is what happened to us on Dark Skies, right? And at the beginning, I had written the foreword for a book called Silver Screen Saucers a few years back, written by Robbie Graham.
Bryce ZabelHOST
9:07
And so it was a great book about...
Bryce ZabelHOST
9:09
UFOs and the late Robbie Graham.
Bryce ZabelHOST
12:09
Brent, I know you've got one of your theories.
Bryce ZabelHOST
12:11
I've got one.
Bryce ZabelHOST
12:12
that we started Dark Skies as the grand unified theory of conspiracy.
Bryce ZabelHOST
12:17
I've got a unified theory of a couple of things I want to float.
Bryce ZabelHOST
16:48
about who got briefed, what they represented, all this great stuff that is part of the historical record and super, super important about OSAP and AATIP and UAP Task Force.
Bryce ZabelHOST
17:05
all these things and there you know there's there's the cia in there and there's the air force and he works at the office of naval intelligence which has a special place in my heart because of what happened at dark skies so i mean there's just a lot of that stuff going on um and but but before we get into any of that i just want to clear up one thing rich and and i'd love us to talk about this for just a second Because it applies more than just to Jay Stratton.
Bryce ZabelHOST
17:32
It also applied to Lou Elizondo.
Bryce ZabelHOST
17:34
It applies to Likatsky.

Richard DolanHOST
23:34
Yeah, well, that's typical though, right?
Bryce ZabelHOST
23:35
Yeah, yeah, it is.
Bryce ZabelHOST
23:36
And by the way, the war thing really hits home to me because that's the guys that approached Brent Friedman and myself at Dark Skies said they were from the Navy and that they wanted to talk to us because the Air Force wasn't talking to anybody.
Bryce ZabelHOST
23:49
So if there has been a war, it's been going on for a very long time.
Bryce ZabelHOST
12:10
I'm Bryce Zabel.
Bryce ZabelHOST
12:12
Later, when we were producing Dark Skies, an NBC TV series about an alien invasion, we were approached by men who said they were from the Office of Naval Intelligence, and they wanted to give us inside information in exchange for access to our show.
Brent FriedmanHOST
12:26
We didn't take that deal, but we have never stopped thinking about it.
Bryce ZabelHOST
12:31
That's why we do this podcast.

14 MINS LATER

Brent FriedmanHOST
26:22
Yeah.
Bryce ZabelHOST
26:22
"We're gonna build some of that and sell some of that, and we're gonna change the world with that.
Bryce ZabelHOST
26:26
In the meantime, we're gonna try to tell people what's really going on, and has been going on in the UFO field." And by the way, you and I will appreciate this, "By using the cover of fiction we said we were doing with Dark Skies back in 1995."
Brent FriedmanHOST
26:41
Yes.
AstralHOST
43:28
Sure, sure.
AstralHOST
43:29
Yeah, I think for those not familiar with the story, Brent Friedman was a Hollywood producer that worked on Dark Skies, worked with Bryce Sable on that show.
AstralHOST
43:39
They were approached, you know, by a naval intelligence officer at the party for Dark Skies.
AstralHOST
43:45
But way before that, when Brent was a teenager – he tells a story in which he had a neighbor, John Harrington.
AstralHOST
43:52
And John Harrington ended up working for the Reagan administration and also being the secretary of the Department of Energy.

16 MINS LATER

AstralHOST
59:51
What the hell? Like you were drunk out of a back porch and telling them about the aliens.
AstralHOST
59:55
Like, so to me, a lot of it is like, maybe this is reactionary to people finding out like, oh shit, people are actually taking this serious where John Harrington back in the day thinking he's like, talking to an 18 year old that isn't going to turn into a Hollywood producer and even take this that far.
AstralHOST
60:15
Like imagine back in the, like he's not, there's no, there's no like plot for Brent Friedman to take this information and turn it into dark skies back when he's 18.
Christopher GraybillGUEST
67:05
That's okay.
Christopher GraybillGUEST
67:06
Was it the creators of Dark Skies or-
Ty RobertsHOST
67:08
Creators of Dark Skies, yeah.
Ty RobertsHOST
67:09
Bryce Zabel.
Ty RobertsHOST
67:10
Thank you.
Ty RobertsHOST
67:15
...
Ty RobertsHOST
67:16
Brent I'll be having on.
Ty RobertsHOST
67:17
Um, but, um, yeah, so Dark Skies, X-Files.
Patrick Scott ArmstrongHOST
0:50
And you may know Bryce Zabel from, uh, the Need to Know podcast, right? Originally with Ross Coulthart, now it's with Richard Dolan.
Patrick Scott ArmstrongHOST
0:58
Um, he also helped produce, uh, Dark Skies, right? A famous TV show from the '90s, coincidentally with Brent Friedman, which is why they have the show Sound, Light, and Frequency.
Patrick Scott ArmstrongHOST
1:09
Now, there's a lot to get into because this brand-new Jesse Michels interview just came out, and Jesse brought the bombshells.
Patrick Scott ArmstrongHOST
1:19
All right? So there's a lot to get into, and to help me explain what's going on, here's Bryce Zabel.
Bryce ZabelSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
1:50
And he's a man we've been talking about all season here at Sound, Light, and Frequency.
Bryce ZabelSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
1:54
Harrington, of course, is the former Reagan administration official who Brent says sat him down in 1981 when Brent was 18 years old and told him something extraordinary: that aliens were real, the government knew it, and Harrington has seen them.
Bryce ZabelSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
2:10
Now, that story helped inspire Dark Skies, our TV series.
Bryce ZabelSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
2:14
Brent told it to me in 1994.
