Dark Harvest

Mike, you talked about this a while ago.

I finally checked out Dark Harvest, the

2023

deal.

I thought it went into slightly unexpected territory.

I'd be curious to check out the book and see how different it is from what they adapted.

But yeah, if you haven't seen Dark Harvest, I would put it on your queue.

I thought that was a really cool... potential annual Halloween, uh, flick to go back to.

And I finally did because I couldn't think of anything else.

And I watched Dark Harvest, which is David Slade.

Is that the guy? The guy who did Hard Candy and 30 Days of Night.

And I really enjoyed it.

It's like an hour 30.

It's about a group of teens in 1963.

I don't want to say too much because like part of the fun is... figuring out what is exactly happening in this town um but there's like elements of like hunger games like that's certainly a part of it i'm gonna guess it's not a light harvest it's not it's a dark harvest my friend it's a dark harvest i don't want to get as advertised yeah just as dark as advertised there's some good there's some good gore in it too and some there's some cool creature effects uh so yeah that that got a thumbs up from me uh what was your first step

My first up, I'll do a cap tip to a science fiction film that I watched that is most decidedly not a horror movie.

okay

okay i have to watch it as i haven't gone around to it yeah it's so i don't

remember i don't know if i've watched it or not let me put it on my list

top.

I'll try to watch Idle Hands and Strange Harvest this week.

And Dark Harvest.

And Dark Harvest.

So what did you pick for tonight?

Dark Harvest.

Dark

Harvest from the year? 2023.

one.

It's good.

yeah michael gilio yeah has written four movies and that he did that movie right before dark harvest interesting so

but you also said this is based on a novel

Thank you so much for recommending that one because I had nothing to proct over.

I actually really want to read Dark Harvest.

Oh, wasn't there a movie based on that? Yes.

And

That would make sense because she probably has, you know, a lot of experience making sure that suits are movable, especially if she's done one for like Violent Night where there's a lot of movement happening.

And then she was not the costume designer, but she had other costume related roles on Dark Harvest, one of my father's favorite movies, Nobody, and a few episodes of Midnight Mass.

Your dad would like Nobody.

It's a good movie.

Okay.

And then my last actor I have is Bradley Solotsky, who plays Mr. Verne.

So he was in Dark Harvest, which the costume designer also worked on.

Orphan First Kill and Channel Zero.

All right.

We're gonna watch Dark Harvest from 2023.

Oh.

It's a movie I watched last year and was like, "I gotta bring it next year for the freak show."

Dark Harvest.

It- I watched it last year too- Yeah ...

but you told me to.

Okay, that was a different one.

Um, okay, this is kind of funny.

Um, I, I selected, uh, Dark Harvest from 2023, directed by David Slade.

This is, uh, in a small w- Midwestern town, a deadly annual ritual unfolds when the mythical nightmare Sawtooth Jack rises from the corn fields and challenges the town's teenage boys-

[laughs]

They shot it all on weekends, I guess.

Um, uh, absolutely loved it.

And I did come back finally and finish, um, [smacks lips] Dark Harvest.

And I think if you haven't seen it before, it's a good first watch.
