Dark Emu

I, I, I won't ask you to go into all of the, you know, all of the copious evidence against his argument, but I think what, what's interesting about...

So he's the author of Dark Emu, a 2014 book which has been extraordinarily influential.

He's routinely taught in schools now in Australia.

You know, awards, adaptations, et cetera, endlessly.

So when you hear a story, if you're a progressive and it's a progressive story, then you've got every reason to claim it as one of yours.

You know, you can back it.

And that, I think, has happened with this, uh, Dark Emu book.

Um, but the other side of it was, would any of this have happened if he was a white engineer with a Scottish accent? I don't think so.

So it stimulated something else.

I always work better with his attention on the book as well.

Sometimes we get so close during the writing of these books that we dream each other's dreams.

Beyond this, both of us feel that we draw still further on some spirit that is abroad in these times, the thinking and the feeling of others, only some of which is fully expressed in books and articles or conversations.

So everybody's contributing things, but they contribute things when they're in a receptive state rather than they're just doing business as usual.

And furthermore, she said, I've discovered a whole collection of thinkers in different fields trying to articulate the same vision.

So one of the things, so that was an Instagram post that she sent me that I sent on to you and that was showing that in healing the past, you can heal the future or you can change elements.

For me, it comes down to healing.

So a really good recommendation for all the listeners, if you haven't already, the book Dark Emu, it talks about how Australian Indigenous people cultures all around australia they propagated seeds and grasses and plants and the soil was fantastically healthy it was all organic this was before pesticides and herbicides and everything was very fertile when settlers first arrived unfortunately not so much now because it's just been commercially monocultured to within an inch of its life

There was a really famous plant.

And there were like hundreds of different communities within Australia that were Like, some were nomadic, but there were a lot more that were established than history books like to say.

Highly recommend a book called Dark Emu.

Really, really beautiful book.

Sad, but wonderful.
