So this is the Tuatha De Danann.

This is the tribe of Danu both before and after-

And when all of this was presented by his own chief of staff to Secretary Hagsath, his response was, I don't care.

And as a result, Danu was essentially forced into early retirement rather than serving as a Supreme Allied commander in Europe.

So that's point one.

Point two is what seems to be going on here is an inability to stand competence around him.

What do you do with the older goddesses you don't want to get rid of because Christianity is coming up? You've got to write them into the story.

So Anna, Anu, Danu gets written into the story as Saint Anne.

And she, of course, is most powerful in the Celtic countries.

And you find, you know, in Brittany and in Ireland, you find a lot of devotion to St. Anne.

Yes.

So let's really go there with this sense of connecting Anne and Anu and the hills themselves.

Because, you know, one of the things about Danu, you know, she goes by her many names, whether she's in Ireland or she's the Danube River, like she is this being so great, there are no stories.

Because it's like trying to tell the tale of the land itself.

[laughs] Leanan Sidhe is said to have been one of the Tuatha De Danann, which were a supernatural race of people deeply connected to the land.

The Tuatha De Danann translates to the people of the goddess Danu.

Danu, oh yeah, I know who that is.

She's a demon.

Who is a water mother goddess.

She has lots of vines growing around her, lots of clovers.

I didn't look into her, I didn't look into her all that much.

And they use those supernatural abilities to fight the Fir Bolg.

Their name, Tuatha Dé Danann, translates to Children of the Goddess Danu.

And whatever their relationship with this goddess Danu, it seems that it was everything they needed to overcome these Fir Bolg.

And it wasn't just that they defeated the Fir Bolg, they then went to war with the Fomorians and won.

And this wasn't a victory in the sense that the Nemedians had a victory.

It serves as the national pseudo-historical record of Ireland before the historical Irish the Gaels arrived.

And it meticulously describes a series of settlements, the most famous being a group called the Tuatha Dé Danann, the people of the goddess Danu.

Right.

According to the oldest layers of this tradition, they didn't arrive by wooden boats sailing across the sea like normal human settlers.

But there is a linguistic and structural detail here that completely shatters the isolation of the Irish myth.

Oh, this is the best part.

The name Danu, the mother figure of the Tuatha Dé Danann, that exact name appears on the other side of the Indo-European world, thousands of miles away in the ancient Sanskrit traditions of India.
