The funny story was, um, I think Danny Frawley, who I'd wor- worked with-

So Danny Frawley was backs- specialist backs coach, um, for a while when I was there.

And he had told Steven Silvani, who's a close mate of his, to have a look at my tape and whatever, because I'd done a decent job on this, this guy, and this guy, and this guy.

Yeah.

No, not fire.

His laugh is the first thing that comes to my mind when I think about Danny Frawley.

Danny Frawley was born on this day in 1963.

He died in 2019.

The hot dog was invented on this day in 1884, Scotty.

I'm sure.

One of my favourite people of all time and a great St Kilda great, Danny Frawley, lost his life because of CTE injuries because he committed suicide and it was definitely related to that.

We've had a bunch of players recently.

At As the game became professional and the hits became harder and the rules didn't adjust, that period between sort of 85 to 2000 and even 15 has been really brutal on those players more than the generations before that.

It's death by suicide because they've got CTE and they've got the horrible impacts of that.

You look at Shane Tuck, Danny Frawley, those kind of guys.

I know there's been a lot of NRL players as well.

I'm not an NRL guy, but I know that there's a lot of, I don't know the names, but there's a lot of guys that have done it.

Danny Frawley, the great l- the great late Danny Frawley came in after a Richmond loss and he had a, he had a pump holding above his head, and the players said, "What do you need?" He says, "Well, boys, I'm under the pump.

Under the..." So he's, he's related it back to the situation he's in.

Secondly, um, look, I just wanted to ask you a couple of questions.

Look, firstly, did the AFL miss the mark on, you know, the inaugural Defender Award and not call it after Danny Frawley? Um, secondly, you know, people are gonna be upset with th- who, who they did and didn't get in the All-Australian squad.

Do we need to add two more rather than be a 44, uh, 44 squad? Uh, do we need to made it, make it a 46 squad and then have, like, Australia A, Australia B squad?

Mm.

Um, and I suppose if you're gonna name a Best Defender Award, I think it probably has to be named after the guy who has been the best defender of all time.

So, you know, whether you'd call it, you know, the Matthew Scarlett or Steven Silvagni or, or whatever, I think you'd probably have to call it after one of the greatest defenders, and who you pick for that.

I mean, Danny Frawley was a great defender, but he wasn't, you know, quite, uh, Matthew Scarlett or Steve Silvagni's level.

I know why you want to name it the Danny Frawley Award, and I get that 100%.
