SteveHOST
20:06
Having that presence in front of the net is going to be tough, though, because they don't really have it right now on this roster.
SteveHOST
20:12
But I did notice a few reports from Rookie Camp, including one of your podcasts, where Daniel Prokhorov has been looking like he could be that type of player.
SteveHOST
20:25
I mean, he's huge.
SteveHOST
20:27
He's 6'6 and 230 pounds.
Gil MartinHOST
17:10
And then, without being placed on waivers, the following players were assigned to Hamilton.
Gil MartinHOST
17:16
Alex Jeffries, Josh Kotai, Daniil Prokhorov, Marshall Warren, and Matthew Highmore.
Gil MartinHOST
17:25
So, those were the Saturday transactions.
Gil MartinHOST
17:29
Most of those guys played on Friday night, and then they were dispatched.
Patrick NylandHOST
3:12
So Islanders transactions...
Patrick NylandHOST
3:14
Alex Jeffries, Josh Kotai, Daniel Prokhorov, and Marshall Warren have all been assigned to Hamilton in the AHL.
Patrick NylandHOST
3:22
None of those players are going on waivers.
Patrick NylandHOST
3:23
They go directly there based on contracts, age, and how long they've been in the league.
Corey PronmanHOST
31:56
Like, I think Cole Arsenault's been good enough.
Corey PronmanHOST
31:58
You know, you've been- been keeping an eye on Achison and Daniil Prokhorov, but it's really been Victor Ekland that I think has had the best camp among the Islanders' youngsters, and a guy who I think has given himself a really good chance to break camp in their top nine, to be on their power play, you know, just because, not only 'cause he's so skilled and a great skater, but because of how hard he competes.
Corey PronmanHOST
32:19
Um, I think he's really created an opportunity there, and he seems to really en- endear himself to the coaching staff as well.
Chris PetersGUEST
32:28
All right.
Gil MartinHOST
27:24
Matt Luff.
Gil MartinHOST
27:27
Daniil Prokhorov still with the big club.
Gil MartinHOST
27:32
And then you've got Kashawn Aitchison still among the defensemen, Matt Kessel among the defensemen, and Marshall Warren.
Gil MartinHOST
27:39
And Joshua Kotai, the goalie, he is still in Islanders camp again.
James NicholsHOST
4:04
heavy AHL lineup, right? A lot of kids for the New York Islanders, right? They had of their NHL guys, it was Palat, Cal Richie, and maybe Victor Eklund.
James NicholsHOST
4:16
You know, that's a guy who is vying for position, but, you know, largely here, For the Islanders, it was a lot of the rookie talent that they have in Iserman, in Prokhorov.
James NicholsHOST
4:27
And I don't know if George is any longer a rookie, but certainly was a guy who is not an NHL veteran out there.
James NicholsHOST
4:36
So, look, not too much to take away.
Matt MarcheseHOST
9:32
Right there.
Matt MarcheseHOST
9:35
There was a good battle, a good net front presence battle right here, or net front battle, between Schaefer and Prokhorov.
Matt MarcheseHOST
9:42
And Prokhorov's a big guy, right? And Schaefer just bodied him.
Matt MarcheseHOST
9:46
Schaefer bodied him and pushed him out of the way.
Matt MarcheseHOST
9:49
Prokhorov is a big guy, you know.
Matt MarcheseHOST
9:51
He's got to get stronger, Prokara.
Matt MarcheseHOST
9:53
That's going to be something he's going to need to work on.
Patrick NylandHOST
6:15
I do think there's a world where the season can start and the third line can be Eklund, Peugeot, Heinemann.
Patrick NylandHOST
6:21
And with that, I want to talk about the next player in Prokhorov.
Patrick NylandHOST
6:24
Prokhorov, I think, had perhaps the most eye-opening performance.
Patrick NylandHOST
6:27
rookie games as he showed in those two games that once again he can just always attack the front of the net had two goals in that first that first game looked really impressive and what I like about Prokhorov is like beyond the times that he's scoring it's how consistently he's doing that every single time this is a player who knows his role right he knows he has to get in front cause chaos um have tips and he does it consistently and the game is simple i think that's going to translate well into the nhl uh for prokhorov i think this is just about getting more taste of nhl style ice unlike most russian players who seem to struggle with this i actually think the smaller ice is better for prokhorov's game he's not a player who likes to do dekes and dangles and do all the skill he likes to get the puck put it on his backhand and drive the front of the net and that just translates really well into nhl i don't think he has much of a chance of making the islanders right too early i do think eventually this is a guy who can legitimately be a difference maker in this lineup just not yet but for him i think it's just gonna be about showing that he can play physical with nhl bodies right like the other guys with more emphasis on like joey he can deliver some hurt to some of these guys right he's six foot six guy you want to see doing damage.
Patrick NylandHOST
7:42
And then this season, hopefully he has an impactful role in the AHL where I think he should be.
Patrick NylandHOST
7:47
A lot of times he plays in the third line.
Patrick NylandHOST
7:49
So I think I would like to see him work his way up to the top six of that AHL team and show he can do more than just bang and score dirty goals, right? If he can kind of get more comfortable with that skill that he has, especially for his size, Prokhorov is a really interesting player.
Patrick NylandHOST
8:03
And For a guy I knew nothing about on draft day, I am so glad I didn't make too much of a stink about it because there were some guys that I had circled that I wanted and I was absolutely wrong.
Gil MartinHOST
27:00
The roster, however, has been released.

Gil MartinHOST
28:16
Those are the players that we're going to see on the ice, and they report today.
Cole HealyHOST
18:00
So, yeah, it's very, very encouraging signs for both of them.
Cole HealyHOST
18:03
And then, yeah, Daniil Prokhorov also had two goals in that first game.
Cole HealyHOST
18:07
If he can figure out...
Cole HealyHOST
18:09
Again, the skating isn't awful, but it definitely needs some work, which is to be expected with a guy that big.
