It's an interesting question.

I was actually just reading a book on that by Daniel Taub called Beyond Dispute, Rediscovering the Art of Constructive Disagreement.

And the book starts at a moment that was probably the greatest crisis for the Jewish people, which was the destruction of the Second Temple because until that point, all of Judaism revolved around temple sacrifices in Jerusalem, worshipping God in a certain way in only one place.

And once that didn't exist, there was a question of, like many other ancient religions that ceased to exist when their holy places were destroyed, would Judaism continue to exist? And at the time there were Sort of multiple Jewish groups saying that we are the authentic Jews.

It's a very, very long book.

It's highly unedited, meaning that there's a lot of things in there that are just total sidetracks and seem totally irrelevant.

And there's a question of, like, why did this denomination of Judaism that sort of collects arguments and include a lot of voices that contradict each other, why did that survive and not the Judaism of the Pharisees and the Sadducees? And what Daniel Taub suggests in the book, which I think is a really beautiful idea, which is directly related to arguments, is that people often think that religions are more resilient when they just have one voice.

And there's one way to act, and there's one way to believe, and there's no arguments, and that's how it should work.
