Daniel Raymond Brandhorst

This next one has an added layer of sadness to it, as it does involve a child, so possible trigger warning.

Daniel Brandhorst and Ronald Gamboa were described by family and friends as being the ideal couple.

Daniel was a 44-year-old accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers in LA, while Ronald was 33 years old and a manager at a Gap store in Santa Monica.

Both men originally lived in New York and had been together for 14 years after meeting by chance at a party.

The couple relocated to LA after Daniel was transferred there for work, and they built their dream home in the Hollywood Hills and decided that they were ready for the next step in their relationship: expanding their family and adopting a child.

Together, the two would adopt a baby boy at birth in 1998, officially naming him David Reed Gamboa Brandhorst.

Both were described as being deeply devoted to their son and loved being fathers, always spending their evenings taking him out for walks and to museums.

David was described as being a very happy little boy who loved Legos and eating cherry tomatoes.
