yeah
67:45
yeah well and again like um there's like this moment in the 880s where um it's carloman so this would be louis the third louis the stammerer's son um who's for a while he's joint king and then his older brother you know bashes his head on a lintel piece trying to ride a horse to chase a girl into a house uh good riddance um so carloman is king and he's dealing with this massive norse army that's like tromping around back and forth between realms.
68:20
And at one point, we hear that the Norse send envoys, that guy named, it's either Godfred or Siegfried, they just use the same damn names over and over, who was a loyal servant to Carloman, goes to talk with them, right? Like he's the representative of Carloman to talk to these Norse guys.
68:42
And you're like, who is this guy? How long has he been...
68:47
Harloman's servant, is he related to the other Godfords and Siegfrieds who all seem to be part of this royal dynasty? Like, where'd this guy come from? Is he new? Has he been there for decades, just like a Norseman in the Carolingian court as a retainer? Does he hold land? Is he related to Hemming, who held land in Frisia? Is he related to Harold Clock? Is he related, like, who the heck is this guy? Then we never hear about him again.
69:18
And you're just like, please, no.
69:20
Give me something.

16 MINS LATER

And I mean, it just seems to be a very... um you know kind of high order political problem political slash economic problem maybe social problem if you're one of those people that got carried off or something but i mean i don't know on balance i mean where do you and then when you couple that with us sort of griping at the beginning about like the the frankish empire is a big deal and the vikings are a big deal why doesn't anybody talk about this i mean is it really not a big deal then
