Daniel Horan

I host a radio show called Things Not Seen about culture and faith, and I'm an associate professor of Christian spirituality and philosophical theology at the Institute of Pastoral Studies at Loyola University Chicago.

I'm here with my two good friends, Heidi Schlumpf and Dan Horan.

Heidi is senior correspondent at Commonweal Magazine.com. She is also an award-winning journalist and part-time faculty member at Loyola University Chicago.

Dan is professor of philosophy, religious studies, and theology at St. Mary's College in Notre Dame, Indiana.

But we had a wonderful day-long event discussing this, especially talking about the rise in people entering OCIA on college campuses.

And I'm getting ready to leave later today as we're recording this to head to the University of Notre Dame, my alma mater, for a couple events and interviews.

And I hope to see Dan Horan in person briefly.

So, Dan, how are you?

Well, it is being called the Philly Phone Project.

Local videographer Dan Horan says he wants to give anyone and everyone a platform to say literally anything they want.

He started the project a few months ago.

Every day he posts the location of the phone and people show up to make calls.

It is great to be with you.

In this episode, I sit down once again with Dr. Daniel P. Horan.

He was kind enough to join us last season, and now he's back.

Dr. Dan Horan is a longtime Thomas Merton scholar, professor, and author of a book on Merton's deep Franciscan roots.

And I think you can see what inspired Thomas Merton.

So these are maybe two entry points, you know, to a shared tradition that continues to live on in so many lives and acts of ministry and love.
