Daniel 9

So, Steve, can you start in Matthew 24, verse 15, and read down to verse 23?

Therefore, when you see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place, let the reader understand.

Then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains.

whoever is on the housetop must not go down to get things out of his house and whoever is in the field must not turn back to get his cloak but woe to those women who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days moreover pray that when you flee it will not be in the winter or on the Sabbath.

Then if anyone says to you, Behold, here is the Christ, or He's over there, do not believe him.

Remember that one of the things we're trying to resolve here is, are these statements future to us today, or were these things fulfilled in the first century? This is the primary section where we have to deal with that issue.

We look at verse 15, answering these questions, what's the sign of your coming in the end of the age? One of the signs is something called the abomination of desolation that is mentioned in Daniel.

We'll get to more of that in just a second.

Don't let anyone deceive you in any way because that day, the seven-year tribulation, the day of the Lord will not come, listen, until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness, the Antichrist, is revealed.

Now, how is he revealed? How would the world know this guy? Well, Daniel 9, 27, he's the guy who makes a covenant with the people of Israel.

And that's what starts that final week of Daniel's seventh week prophecy, the seven year tribulation, but he's a loser.

And here's what the Bible says.

Okay.

So again, that's the famous event of the Antichrist committing what's called the abomination of desolation.

Jesus talked about that in Matthew 24.

Daniel talked about that in Daniel 9.

Who can forgive sins but God alone? Even in the Old Testament, the Jews did not confess their sins to the priests.

Daniel 9 talks about how he confessed to the Lord.

Remember, confession did not show up until 1215 A.D., okay? Jesus, God's word says, confess your sins to one another, James 5, 16, all right?

What about John 20, 22? All

The events of Nehemiah trigger the prophetic countdown to the first coming of Christ in Jerusalem.

If we get to it tonight, I'll reference it from Daniel 9, verse 25.

When it comes to Nehemiah the man...

His name in Hebrew is Nechamaya.

They negotiate the time, and the king agrees.

It pleased the king to send me.

Now, in the margin of your Bible right there, I want you to write down Daniel 9, verse 25 to 27.

Daniel 9, 25 to 27.

The tribulation period commences with the confirming of a false covenant with the Antichrist, with Israel, and probably much of the world.

That's in Daniel 9, verses 24 through 27, and Ezekiel 28, 15 and 18.

And this false covenant commences a seven-year tribulation period.

In the first three and a half

Of course, there's arguments if it's mid-trib or pan-trib or post-trib.

You know, pre-trib means the rapture occurs before the Antichrist confirms the covenant with Israel.

They spoke about Daniel 9 for the seven-year tribulation period clock to start ticking.

Mid-trib, believe that the rapture, and for your listeners, if they want to understand what the rapture is, they need to go to 1 Corinthians 15 verses 50 and 51 and 52, and they need to go to 1 Thessalonians 4 around verses 18 and And it's where Christ comes and takes the church out in a miraculous twinkling of an eye in a nanosecond.

They're going to say, you guys got to stop no matter what.

There will be a leader from Europe that comes on the scene and he's going to say, you know, the Bible says the Antichrist, Daniel 9, 27, he will confirm the covenant with many for a final seven year period.

So imagine this.

This is a hypothetical situation based on the prophecies of the Bible.

And on the back end of that, the nations will yield up their sovereignty to a world-governing body And they're militaries, and we will go off into a world government, and the Antichrist, not soon after that, will usurp authority over that world governing body and rule it until the second coming of Jesus Christ.

And one of the things that will help him assume power of that is he's going to be the one that gets the peace agreement across the finish line.

Daniel 9.27 says, and he, the Antichrist, will...

Confirm a covenant with many for a seven-year period.

just wanted to point out in Daniel 9 verse 24 no, 25 it says that Messiah is the Prince, right? Messiah is Prince.

And then, um, we were reading in Jude that it said that Michael is the archangel.

Right.

But as I said before, and the Bible tells us many, many things that we can know, but in between the things that we know in the Bible, there are gaps, and there's foggy places, and there's mystery, and there's unknown places or unknown things that are going to happen, and we just don't know everything.

And so when we try to fill in the blanks for everything, we can say, I think, with a sense of integrity, okay, where's Antichrist going to be born from? Well, Daniel 9, 26 and 27 tells us he's going to come out of the ancient Roman Empire somewhere in that whole geographical region.

What country? I don't know.

What specific ethnicities is he going to be among the Gentiles? I don't know.
