We have a great show for you today, as you can tell.

We will be reviewing Dangerous Animals.

We'll start out by giving a spoiler-free synopsis and review.

After we give our score, we will jump into the spoiler section.

Dangerous animals can be found streaming on Hulu.

Dangerous Animals is a movie about a shark-obsessed serial killer on the loose when a young American surfer, Zephyr, is taken captive.

After being kidnapped and held captive, there is little hope for rescue, and she has to use every ounce of her resolve as she fights for survival in an attempt to elude not only her captor, but also the hungry sharks lurking in the water surrounding her.

And how about you, Hannah? What did this remind you of?

This reminded me a little bit of Dangerous Animals in the sense that it had people who were thrill-seekers, who wanted a singular experience in nature or to cross something off of their bucket list, but then are kind of thwarted by a psycho and also a... you know, killed by the elements around them, which happen to be sharks in this movie.

And in Deadpoint, it happens to be the treacherous mountain that they have to climb.

So I thought it was, you know, somewhat similar.

And initially she was terrified of sharks going into the movie.

To help overcome that she swam with conservationists and got into a shark cage similar to, like, Dangerous Animals, [laughs] although she wasn't killed at the end of it, um, and observed just how, like, serene and majestic sharks are.

Overall, outside of the actual surfing that she just could not do, she didn't have enough time and enough, uh, to master that.

But all the other stunts she did her-

And I, it, 'cause-

Even when the shark comes out of the water, like, to attack the buoy or, like, grab that surfer, it looks good.

I, I, so for me this w- as much as I love Dangerous Animals, which I watch because you guys were covering it, I would say that this is done better than that.

It's better than that final scene.

It is so worth it.

My first recommendation for the spooky season with these films on Kanopy is Dangerous Animals.

It follows an American woman who travels to Australia to kind of get away from her life when she goes out to scuba dive and gets kidnapped by the man on the boat who owns it.

It is a really contained, vicious thriller that I was genuinely surprised by.

He's never really been given the right role, but him as the serial killer here is just really fun and over the top, but in a very sort of intentional way that doesn't feel like he's overacting.

It feels like he's playing this person who is a very over-the-top kind of person.

Dangerous Animals is a lot of fun if you like shark movies, so I do really recommend this thriller.

The second recommendation on Kanopy, which I was very surprised to see there, is Talk to Me.
