I guess in some ways bringing this spiritual tradition into modern, our modern life and like what you think is something important for anybody who is aspiring to practice this form of spiritual heathenism or why you think this is important as kind of like a science based religion.

Well, Okay, so for one thing, I'll answer this more specifically and more broadly, starting off more broadly.

So in general, the archaeological record is incredibly important because, well, yes, we do have textual documents and things like that.

And primary documents are important, but they are oftentimes biased.

I mean – We can look at, for example, Caesar's Gallic Wars, where basically it's him, an entire book, patting himself on the back about how great he is and how much he, you know, conquered and killed the Gauls.

So, and it's still an important source, but, you know, for learning about the history of the Gauls and, you know, Celtic paganism, things like that.

But it's also like, you know, it's biased.

So what is something that you have learned from your archaeology, your studies in archaeology, that you have now incorporated into your spiritual beliefs?

Mr. Dane, please talk about how and when Victoria Ska and Reggae Festival started, and what it had to do with your time in college.

Right.

Well, I, I used to, I always wanted to do shows and, um, bring people together ever since I was 13, in grade seven doing school dances, and then I was always on the social committee and, you know, with going through junior high, high school.

So I decided, oh, what could I do that would give me a degree in kind of a cultural, um, way of organizing events and stuff? And I, I looked, and there was a, a program in Dalhousie in Nova Scotia where my mom had gone to school, but I didn't wanna be so far away from family 'cause Nova Scotia's like, you know, probably seven hours by plane away from Victoria.

So I decided I would take the Leisure Service Administration program at the University of Victoria, um, and it had four work terms, and, um, the last work term was the Victoria Ska Festival.

And that's what...

And so here we are 27 years later.
