First of all, earlier today, we had an update on the gas price issue.

So back on April 8th, Dan McTeague was on the show.

He is the president of Canadians for Affordable Energy.

And April 8th, Dan McTeague said, "When we hit the fall, will there be a time when I'll bring Dan McTeague on the show and he will be telling listeners, 'Hey, we're going on the winter gas.

It's coming down by seven cents a liter'"?

So what was happening is gas was going up, and I was looking for a way for it to come down.

So it is the 14th.

We're okay with that.

And, uh, Dan McTeague saying, "Three bucks a liter by Saturday." Yeah, I'm sure it might even be before that, which is tomorrow.

Dan McTeague is the, is the pronunciation.

And here we go.

That's a, that's a mispronunciation that he probably would not approve of, Big Dan.

And you've got a perfect storm of problems creating endless upward pressure on the price of food

It won't stop there, says energy analyst Dan McTeague

If diesel prices go up, it tends to bring the price of propane and natural gas up as well, and, uh, inevitably may have a knock-on effect on other forms of how we make energy

Right now, there are no clear solutions to the factors driving this.

Um, there's all kinds of, I, I think, troubling signals when it comes to the price of energy.

But we'll get some help from a guy who knows, and you know him, Dan McTeague, uh, the president of Canadians for Affordable Energy, joins us now.

Dan McTeague, uh, president of Canadians for Affordable Energy.

Uh, y- I mean, the, the, the Bank of Canada governor was talking about this yesterday in terms of inflation and the energy situation that we're in and how if it continues, and he's been saying this for a while, it's unavoidable, the, the costs of everything will go up.

I think Ottawa has to get real and recognize that this is a f- uh, significant inflationary crisis that affects the cost of everything.

With diesel prices soaring, up 50 cents per liter compared to this time last year, and gas staying high, fuel analyst Dan McTeague says Ottawa and the provinces should take a hard look, not just on those federal excise taxes, but on the GST and HST applied at the pumps.
