So, Dan, when you made this film about the work that they're doing, do you just, like, call Roberto and say, hey, like, I want to find out what do you all do? Let's make a movie or – What's the process with this? Do you sit down together or did PBS Nova have an idea of what they wanted or was it more free flowing than that?
40:17
Yeah.
40:19
First of all, I just wanted to say thank you, Roberto.
40:22
That was I appreciate you sharing that knowledge.
40:26
I think that, you know, you got you got an amazing amount of knowledge and I just enjoy hearing what you have to say.
40:34
So, again, I appreciate you sharing that.
40:36
uh and stuff um because a lot of it relates to us down here along the colorado river too so um yeah so back to your question pretty much you know uh you know reaching out to roberto was i think an email uh i had uh um i think the way it came about was uh got some information on the work he was doing uh looked at his website and, uh, I think it's Facebook and then just reached out to him, uh, sent him, I think may, I don't know if it was me or the other producer, Chris neighbors had reached out to him, uh, via email.
43:59
Did you have any, I don't know, unique or thoughts or aha moments or anything?

right?
29:18
So it's just sort of the intimate knowledge of your environment and being able to use it to, like up in the subarctic where we were, to navigate using the stars, you know, which is really complicated up there.
29:35
I mean, they do it down here along, you know, close to the equator, but what's unique up there is that The stars are what they call circumpolar, which means they rotate, you know, horizontally, and they don't necessarily, you know, rise up, you know, from the equator.
29:54
So they're just spinning around in the sky above you.
29:58
So how do you navigate with stars that are going sideways, you know?
30:57
So, looking at the show in general, are there things that we all can learn today from some of this ancient indigenous knowledge?
31:09
I think there is, and I think the main thing is that... you know, wherever we are, I think you should, like, just take a step outside and look at your environment.
31:22
Rethink about your environment, your place, and how you could work with your environment and not against it, right? So a lot of it is working together with your environment, not to totally disrupt it, but how to work in a sustainable way.
