Dan Fornero

Joining me is a returning guest.

We've had her on the show a couple times to talk about someone named Phil Collins, and her name is Tracy.

How you doing tonight, Tracy?

Hello.

So you entered the band in what year? Did you start playing with Harry Kim in like the '80s or '90s?

Well, in '82, uh, I first moved to town and w- when you're, when you're a new musician trying to make your way as a freelance in Los Angeles, it was recommended to me, uh, that you, uh, go down to the Musicians Union and check out the big bands that are all rehearsing down there.

Uh, the union offers, uh, free or very, very inexpensive rehearsal spaces for big bands, and there were dozens, you know? Uh, so I would go down there, and eventually someone heard me and said, "Hey, can you substitute for me on third trumpet," or whatever it would be, you know, to play in, in this free rehearsal, unpaid rehearsal.

And, uh, and I'd say absolutely, 'cause it, it gave me an opportunity to be heard and to meet people and, and to, to start things off that way.
