We're at Merriweather Post Pavilion.

It was raining, and weather was looking kind of bad, and they went into Truckin'.

And, uh, I have a cue.

Sometimes the lights are shining at me, and I shine them up into the audience.

So I had my finger over the button.

If you don't lay your hand, mm-hmm.

And then, you know, here it came.

As it turned out, Dan's assignment to make sure there was no coverage over the stage turned out to be somewhat moot.

So I asked the local stagehands, I said, "Is it gonna rain today in Nicole?" "Yeah." "Okay.

Put the roof on." So they put the roof on.

It didn't rain until pretty late in the day, pretty close to showtime.

[rain falling] And so I'm out at the front of the house and I get a call over the radio, and it's Robin Taylor, and he says, "Come to the stage." And I'm like, "Wow, this is very unusual." You know, they never call me to the stage.

Um, so I zip down there, and there was a meeting, and in this meeting was, around a road box, or standing on a road box, and it, it's Robbie, the promoter, Jerry, Bob, and myself.

Robbie said, "I think we're gonna have to cancel the show if, you know, this rain doesn't stop right now." Then the water started puddling on top and was dripping down on the pedals and all kinds of stuff, drums.

We have to imagine that the infamous semi-fictional Grateful Dead roadie, Precarious Lee, would've been involved with the outcome of this conversation
