Dan Bern

Yes

... otherwise, why are we watching such a jukebox movie if we don't even like the songs? And the singer-songwriters here, Dan Bern and Mike Viola of the Candy Butchers, they were tasked with something quite insane, because they also make the kind of joke that these artists, just like Dylan, you know, of course as we all know, had his folk phase, his troubadour phase, then the rock phase, then the Christian phase, then the this, and then the born again Christian phase, et cetera.

It's like the sound keeps, uh, evolving, and in this film they do it with an almost uncanny quality, that we start in this kind of rockabilly, surf rock, uh, and then we go into more Beach Boy-esque things, more hardcore Johnny Cash things.

At some point, we end up in the coked-up disco era, and there's even a moment where we have Ghostface Killah of the Wu-Tang Clan as himself actually on the stage.

I got shop credit.

The brilliant Dan Bern, who writes, "I keep meaning to slow down with these songs."

[laughs]

"You're so generous, but every time I listen to the show, something pops up.

Uh.

Dan Bern, he's brilliant.

[laughs] Just a genius.

He's brilliant.

Wow.

He plays in Chuck Todd.

What do we think of Dan Bern, huh?

That was Spinal Tap.

Coldplay?

The Dan Bern song.

Oh, okay.

Yeah.
