Dallas Taylor

Hello, everyone, this is Graham Nash, and right now we're talking about our album Déjà Vu.

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and Dallas Taylor and Greg Reeves were a great band.

We knew it.

We knew we had the songs.

But it also kind of sets the tone for the record, I think, in terms of the mood.

There's a very distinctive mood between Crosby, Stills & Nash and Déjà Vu, and Déjà Vu o- overall as an album is much more kind of, it's a little more subdued, a little moodier of a record, and that reflects lots of different things going on in their personal lives and I think maybe in the country too.

And I think Carry On, in a way, is a great way to start that because it's, it's a breakup song, [laughs] you know? And, uh, basically saying, you know, "This thing we had is over and I'm moving on." Dallas Taylor, who was the drummer on the record, who's unfortunately no longer with us, uh, has maintained that that was Stills' message to the band.

Um, Stills has never confirmed that, but this idea that they were already starting to fray around the edges as a group thanks to their success and Neil being in the mix and all sorts of other things.

...

I'm Dallas Taylor.

Hello, hello, hello.

Hello, hello, hello.

Her harlequin hovers nearby.

Okay.

Fun fact, Crosby, Stills, and Nash, and Taylor, because the drummer's name was Dallas Taylor.

Oh my gosh.

And he said I'd be honored.

And I honored him with this Sound and Vision Award, which I've honored Billy Gibbons, Sammy Hagar, Butch Trucks from the Allman Brothers, Dallas Taylor.

A lot of people have been honored.

Glenn Hughes.
