You know, let's, let's do this thing." Um, and the more I read the script, the more I realized that he was, uh, he was indeed the coach, and w- where I could be most helpful, I felt, um, you know, just always trying to add to the culture of, of a team, you know, was, you know, the kind of quarterback.

You know? Like, I know what I, I know what I know as, as far as the acting department goes, you know? And so, um, one of my huge passions is teaching, and as an actor, I think the best thing you can do is teach.

And so, uh, Dallas and Kyle were very, very, very supportive, uh, in me speaking to a lot of the young actors and in helping them along the lines.

You know, um, being, being, you know, number one on the call sheet is... it's a great number.

You know, it's a great, um, uh, privilege to have, but with that comes a great deal of responsibility.

Well, we started writing, we opened the writer's room on January 4th of 2023.

Dallas Sonnier, who produced all of our films at Daily Wire, came to me and said, if you could make anything, what would it be? And I said, well, we've got to go try to get the pin dragon cycle.

And I thought it was kind of a pipe dream, but Dallas went out and secured the rights after all those years.

And we opened a writer's room and got to work.

Well, you're not going to believe it.

Right.

No, you know, our, our, uh, pal Dallas Sonnier, uh, our, you know, who produced the film and who has made a lot of Daily Wire content and a lot of m- many films before he was at the Daily Wire, uh, Dallas Sonnier is l- a maestro of violence.

[laughs] He is, he is, uh-

Yeah.

And I know why people are attached to it, and I know why they feel a need to defend it.

I have plenty of friends who have used surrogacy and IVF and the whole thing, and some of them have come to realize there are problems with the industry.

Some of them just try not to think about it, and they say, "Well, I love my kid.

My kid is a good, so how dare you suggest that there's anything wrong with this? I don't want to think about it." More kids, it's always better.

Some of his friends, uh, which began last year after he was murdered.

You know, we had Dallas Sonnier, who I was like, wow, man, he's just, he's such a pro.

He's worked with the best and really can create incredible things with very little funding and, and very little resources, and he can just create a masterpiece.

So I had a little bit of delusion going into it, just being like, it's Dallas.

What, uh, in terms of the auditioning process, what came first in terms of the, the writing versus which role particularly you played?

Yeah, um, that was a very long process actually because I, I was hired as a writer to, uh, you know, just be a staff writer in the room.

And as we got further into it and the more I learned about the character, Karis, uh, the more I really fell in love with her and the more I started to realize that Dallas Sonnier always has a plan, and that he had originally said, "Do you want to act in this show?" And I said, "No, what I'd really like to do is write."

Mm.

You know, The Daily Wire, of course, took a lot of risk in funding the project and mounting the production.

Dallas Sonier, our executive producer, took a lot of risk.

The cast and crew took a ton of risk, A, to associate with The Daily Wire.

You know, we went and found this unbelievable young cast out of the United Kingdom.

A show like The Pendragon Cycle, there were over 300 people working on any given day on the show, several thousand people employed by the show over the three years of bringing it to the screen.

In this instance, we optioned the book.

Dallas Sonnier went and secured the rights publicly to Lawhead's original novels, we had to build a writer's room from scratch.

There were a lot of writers, even conservative writers, people who we know in the business from maybe my time running Friends of Abe or other people who we've encountered along the way, who simply wouldn't work on it because it was going to have Daily Wire's brand on it, and they're afraid they'll never work again if they do something that's consistent with their own beliefs.
