But by the time they finished basically paperwork, Already mid-journey and open eye turned it into products on the other end of the world.

And you had Delhi and mid-journey and no one was interested anymore in buying stable diffusion as a commercial product.

So with inflammation speed is something we still lack.

But what I'm wondering maybe is now basically, okay, we export a lot of knowledge and they turn it into AI.

Um, I actually like...

I really enjoyed the older versions of like, you know, OpenAI's DALL-E when it, it was like really slow because you could actually kind of see, right, in some of the earlier Midjourney versions, uh, right, when the images are real slow, you could understand the diffusion process because you could see it and watch it, right? One image might take a couple of minutes and it turned out absolutely terrible, right? Like back in the DALL-E two days.

But then you could actually understand and see, oh, okay, I kind of understand what this model is trying to do.

It's a form of artificial intelligence called...

DALL-E.

DALL-E. It's called DALL-E 2.

I, I think the last thing is, um, I will say w- I was part of, uh, these convenings for the arts or, or the Arts Essential, and I do remember a, a session we had at Pocantico where we were talking about art and the difference between art and propaganda, and the role of power in the creation of art.

You know, if it's power creating art, is it art or is it propaganda? And where that comes in, it, it was one of my favorite conversations in this because I think it's really helped me understand The rise of fascistic art in this contemporary period and how things like Gen AI, starting with thing, you know, Midjourney or DALL-E, uh, the, the image generator is really being a gateway to fascistic art because it's so narrowed and focused, um, and pulls on particular themes that we see coming up in, for example, DHS Instagram posts, which have that particular, uh, aesthetic, white nationalist, almost Soviet.

It's this really weird mix of Soviet, white nationalist, uh, Nazi, uh, type of imagery, but it's, it's so very clearly artificial and so very clearly part of a visual corpus that conveys meaning, um, that it's, it's, you know, I, that, that conversation, you know, thinking about how these convenings actually do generate other ideas and, um, have ramifications, you know, I, I wanna just echo what you were saying about the convening of people.

Mm-hmm.

Right? Like, we just, okay, oh, like, you know, we, now we have this, like, you know, DALL-E, the image creation thing, or like Midjourney, and these things where it's like I'm gonna m- you know, type in stuff and make a fun image.

Or okay, ChatGPT comes out in late 2023, and bunch of kids are, like doing their, their homework and essays and stuff.

And you just like s- these things slowly start to ratchet up, and now I think when you look at just popular discourse, the understanding of, like, what is popular, the way that, like, propaganda has been supercharged, the way that we all now have to second-guess every single thing that we come across across any feed, I think that that has genuinely come true in some extent.
