Dagmar Schultz

Audre Lorde would remain part of this place.

According to Dagmar Schultz, she and several of the women Lorde influenced, including the writers and activists Mai Aim, Ika Hügel-Marshall, and Ilona Bubeck, scattered a packet of Lorde's ashes, along with flower petals and shells from St. Croix, all around the lake, rowing in this same inflatable boat.

And so the water holds what we can no longer touch.

The sound of laughter, defiant triumph, unapologetic pleasure, grace.

The photos were about making this transferable in a way that it could be tied into my brother's practice and, and all of this.

But anyway, um...

And the photo is a photo that Dagmar Schultz made, and it's Audre Lorde in this, like, floaty boat that she loved to be in many different years, [laughs] many different visits to Germany.

There are photos of her just, like, happy in this little- Inflatable boat on Kroom Lanka, which is this complicated lake that, [laughs] that she also loved.
