So how do we set up and make sure that we have good prevention of disease for those calves early in their life? And D.L., I'll start with some thoughts from you.

Yeah, I think we need to reflect back all the way, you know, from, you know, the genetic selection of the sire and the dam.

And then once she does conceive, we got to take care of, we got to take care of that dam, that cow or that first cat pepper.

And of course, nutrition.

And we have Dr. Lancaster here who's, you know, that's his special interest and everything on the nutrition side.

And, um, If it's simple body condition scoring, we need to have that taken care of so she can take care of that cap.

And then also we need to prepare her so that she is more resistant to the potential causes, infectious causes of losing a cap, early embryonic death, abortion, congenital anomalies.

And I wanna talk a little bit about, we mentioned vaccines a couple of times and vaccines are something that we know are not perfect they're not going to prevent disease in every scenario however we want to give those vaccines the best chance for success and it's not just putting the vaccine into the calf and dl i know you had a couple examples of times that you've seen procedures or things that people do which may decrease the efficacy of those vaccines tell us some of what you've seen in the field and then i want to get these guys thoughts
