D. J. Reader

We was able to move Dexter Lawrence's ass about it here.

So we're going to be able to move, you know, my guy, what's his name, DJ Reader.

They got all the tacklers.

I had a little praise break in my life because they got all the tacklers we was wanting before we got Quintin.

We've lost sight that Tremaine Edmonds is on this team.

And it's not just, going at DJ Reader and Golston and Shelby Harris, but it's going against a... set of big physical inside linebackers.

And we saw what Arville Reese can do, just destroy running plays inside.

So I'm kind of looking forward to that.

[laughs]

In, in, in DJ, in DJ Reader, and, um, and Shelby Harris.

You know, so, like, what does that all look like? Um, you know, I think that's an important piece to it.

And yeah, I think the Cowboys do have a chance to go out and make a statement because they're gonna give that Giants offense, they may be still figuring things out, um, some unscouted looks and then, you know, offensively test the, the, the, the, the Giants in key areas.

Yeah.

I mean, let's see DJ Reader, right? Let, let's see him because I love DJ Reader, and when the Lions signed DJ Reader, I thought this was gonna be a checkmate maneuver for a team with legitimate Super Bowl aspirations.

Yep.

It's not like he's gotten that much older since then.

It's going to be on the DBs to make the tackles when they come to you.

And DJ Reader and Shelby Harris and our outside linebackers, you guys are going to have to make plays and flow this down.

I'm not going into this saying, hey, just – shut down the run, two yards per carry.

But you can't be giving up explosive runs and then just, you know, we can't get through the first three drives and they have 17 points and they're running the ball at ease with you and then getting the pass off top of that.

That's what they need to do.

I mean, at the end of the day, you can't lean on your pass rush by allowing them to run all over you.

So it's about DJ Reader, Shelby Harris, and Chauncey Golsan, I guess, shutting down the run on first and second down.

And then from there, you got to just kind of live with whatever happens after that.

Here's the thing, man.

There are expectations, huge ones, on Abdul Carter to take another step this year, on Brian Burns to take another step, obviously on the interior with DJ Reader and Shelby Harris kind of plugging that gap left behind Dexter Lawrence.

And we all know the questions around the secondary.

But to me, when was the last time the Giants picked a guy inside the top five that kind of felt like they had less pressure than a normal top five pick would be.

He's not a traditional nose tackle for those of you who are not familiar with Shelby Harris.

He is more of a three tech, somebody who lines up over the guard or between the guard and tackle not lining up over the center or center and guard that's DJ Reader but Shelby Harris is a good player I'm definitely excited to see him out there it's a major upgrade for the New York Giants on the interior defensive line as last year it was kind of just Dexter Lawrence and a bunch of guys who you've never heard of before this year it's going to be DJ Reader Shelby Harris and a rotation of either Chauncey Golston Darius Alexander or one of the other guys on the roster so I'm I actually do think that the Giants upgraded their interior defensive line despite losing Dexter Lawrence, and I think that Shelby Harris plays a big part in that because instead of just having one legitimately solid starting defensive tackle, they got rid of Dexter Lawrence, and then they had the ability to go with two legitimate starting defensive tackles in Reeder and Shelby Harris moving forward.

Let's move on to Andrew Thomas.

They have him listed with a knee injury.

I believe he was placed on injured reserve.

So Tyler Smith out.

New York Giants hopefully set to take advantage with guys like who we just mentioned, DJ Reader and Shelby Harris.

This is a pretty big loss for the Dallas Cowboys.

I, Actually, I like Okereke a little bit better, but he's good.

But they brought in, you know, DJ Reader, and they brought in Shelby Harris, a couple of big guys to kind of help out.

Brian Burns should be able to take that next step.

You know, Thibodeau's been the disappointing guy.
