You Can't Take It With You (1938)
S
57:31ScottGUEST
She's excellent.
S
57:32ScottGUEST
She sort of gets forgotten a little bit when you look at Ginger Rogers or Sid Charisse or someone like that.
S
57:38ScottGUEST
But...
S
57:40ScottGUEST
The perfect vehicle for it is On the Town, as you say, Hal.

Anyway, to the point, Megan sent an image of her dashing Sid, as in Sid Charisse, love it, wearing Chanel, pearls and a blazer.
M
63:55Maureen CallahanHOST
And I died.

right?
A
24:47Allie BarthwellGUEST
The introduction of Sid Charisse in Singing in the Rain is a bit like this, where it's just like they're in like a nightclub.
A
24:57Allie BarthwellGUEST
And in that, it's in the Dream Ballet.
A
24:59Allie BarthwellGUEST

Ep147 Opening the Tonys w/ Sarah O'Gleby (Broadway!)
A
61:42AaronHOST
But it doesn't feel like there is.
A
61:44AaronHOST
Those superstars of dance that are known for dance, even if they act and sing in musical movies, there's no Gene Kelly, there's no Fred Astaire, there's no Sid Charisse.
A
61:54AaronHOST
Ariana DeBose is probably one of the closer ones to it because, yes, she came through So You Think You Can Dance and then she obviously had a few ensemble roles and then Hamilton comes along and then West Side Story so she has become known or she became her star exploded because of dance but it's also her acting that won her the Oscar so she's become known for being an actor she's a film star she's not necessarily known anymore for being a straight-up dancer so if she continues and does more dance work then yes then she would be the number one dance superstar in the world I think
S
62:32Sarah O'GlebyGUEST
for us no it's heartbreaking because really all those dancers are like there's so many dancers that are so unbelievably extraordinary and deserve the world and you know what and just they turn up every day and they do their craft every day and i think you know you have to do it for yourself it's discipline like no other and they deserve massive applause and respect because they're fabulous
Georgia on Film and Herschell Gordon Lewis’ Two Thousand Maniacs! (1964)
C
56:19Casey O'BrienHOST
I don't mean, I don't mean to insult the legacy of Herschel Gordon Lewis, but I don't get the impression that a lot of thought or time or rewrites were put into the screenplays that he put together.
M
56:36Millie De ChiricoHOST
